Salvation in Death

J.D. Robb

Fun story, first J.D. Robb book I've read. Couldn't figure out the killer until it was revealed in the end!

While I enjoyed this book, I missed seeing more of the regulars in this book.

Another great book with my favorite couple, Eve and Roarke. Let's not forget the outstanding side characters that I love as well.

I'm always amazed at how these stories twist and turn. I really was surprised at who committed the murder. However, I figured some of the parties that were involved because well sometimes, that's always just obvious. This one was heavy on the catholic church.

The thing I love most about these books that never gets old is Eve's mind. How she puts the pieces together and starts to see things always gets me. Roarke is always involved in helping to bring things around as well. Peabody is getting better at seeing the cases and thinking them through.

I know I've said it before and probably will with every book...I don't know that I can get tired of this series!
dark mysterious tense medium-paced

Another great installment in the JD Robb futuristic series about Eve Dallas, a hardened police detective that found true love with Roarke, a former criminal.

this time a priest is murdered at a funeral mass by poison in the wine....but is he who everyone thinks he is?

I enjoyed this book and if you like the series you won't be disappointed with this one.

Did not see the turn of events. A good read!

Yep this is one that I enjoyed but didn't really love. I liked how much Eve kept poking Roarke over the catholic rites.

Another good in death book! Eve and Peabody investigate the death of a priest - the portrayal of the Catholic Church is very interesting !! I enjoyed this one

As a series reader, I know how annoying it can be to recap everything each book. However, this being the first book I've read in the series, I found myself very confused about the future and who is who. Maybe I should have started at the beginning.

"In the year 2060, sophisticated investigative tools can help catch a killer. But there are some questions even the most advanced technologies cannot answer.

Ridley Pearson has praised J. D. Robb’s suspense as “taut” and “nerve-jangling.” Her latest thriller sets a new standard for suspense, as the priest at a Catholic funeral mass brings the chalice to his lips--and falls over dead.

When Detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas confirms that the consecrated wine contained potassium cyanide, she’s determined to solve the murder of Father Miguel Flores, despite her discomfort with her surroundings. It’s not the bodegas and pawnshops of East Harlem that bother her, though the neighborhood is a long way from the stone mansion she shares with her billionaire husband, Roarke. It’s all that holiness flying around at St. Christobal’s that makes her uneasy.

A search of the victim’s sparsely furnished room reveals little-- except for a carefully hidden religious medal with a mysterious inscription, and a couple of underlined Bible passages. The autopsy reveals more: faint scars of knife wounds, a removed tattoo--and evidence of plastic surgery, suggesting that “Father Flores” may not have been the man his parishioners had thought. Now, as Eve pieces together clues that hint at gang connections and a deeply personal act of revenge, she believes she’s making progress on the case. Until a second murder--in front of an even larger crowd of worshippers--knocks the whole investigation sideways. And Eve is left to figure out who committed these unholy acts--and why." This novel, compared to all the others, felt a bit wooden. There wasn't that personal touch and the case wasn't that great...on to the next In Death book.
