It was a great book other than the second murder being thrown in to "sidetrack" the main murder. Like it was mentioned the two were tied together by the multi-million dollar corporation Eternal Light, but nothing was ever made mention of the two murders being linked. I would have loved to have seen both murders being solved. To me, the "case" hasn't been closed...
I know that nothing new really ever develops...and if it does, it happens slowly...but really, who cares? I still dare you not to think Roarke is smokin'.
I thought it was interesting to see how intrigued Eve was by Father Lopez...funny that a priest reminded her of Roarke.

My introduction to the In-Death series I'll say was not the absolute worst. Still, it's another mystery/thriller that follows along the regular routes the mystery/thriller author take this days.
The book starts off with a priests getting killed in front of a congregation (as talked about in the blurb)which for sure made me wants to read the book in the first place. The blurb talks about a second murder but we come to see later that it was not really necessary. It was just use to make a longer book. The reveals were not expected alright but still they were not big shockers. The mystery was not mind blowing to be honest. It was disappointing how when the pieces were put together, that's what you got from a three hundred and seventy five paged novel. It was shocking how the mysteries were easily solved. They just felt too easy.
All that said, i don't think I'll be reading any more books in this series. It would be a waste of time and energy to at the end get something mediocre once again.

This edition of the In Death series was good. It was a solid, dependable installment with the murder investigation, and the further development of the characters you love if you are a fan of the series.
There wasn't anything revelatory in this book, either in the murder story or the development of any of the characters. It was just a nice visit with old friends and a chance to catch up with them and see what they've been up to.
As always, there is humour and cheekiness in the lives of Eve and Roarke, and that was worked into this story. The scene where Eve and Roarke get frisky in a car, and Roarke discovers that Eve had never experienced that before he is highly amused.
The murder is clever, and Eve's dedication to victims is on full display here. Peabody does get some opportunity to stretch as a detective, and there's some good interplay between her and McNabb.
Overall, a good, dependable, entertaining read just not the best In Death ever.

Eve Dallas has caught another unusual case. A priest was killed during a funeral service. But it seems the priest might not be a priest after all. Then another preacher is killed the say way. Do we have a serial killer? Eve unravels the mysterious killings in her usual way. Peabody and McNab are so good together in this book. They always make me laugh. Another great story for the series.
Salvation in Death would have earned a 2 star rating if the impressive ending had not saved this book. It was incredibly hard to follow and had an elaborate character list. It did not make much sense but the last few chapters made it somewhat easier to understand. As a spiritual person, I didn't appreciate the digs throughout the book at religion and the importance of faith. At least Dallas could relate to her duty and her belief in the law to compare it to someone's spiritual belief. The second death in the book put a sour taste in my mouth and I didn't appreciate the portrayal of the pastoral murder victim. I'm happy to move past this book but I'm not looking forward to the next installment. I know it's going to break my heart because Dr. Morris is heavily involved.

It was good and kept you guessing throughout. It is a mystery about who killed a priest during a funeral. Or was he a priest???
The murder case in this one involves a Catholic priest poisoned with the sacramental wine. The case was solid and went in an interesting direction. There's not a lot of personal stuff going in in the background with Eve and Roarke and the gang though, and I've found that's the stuff I most look forward to in an "In Death" book.
