I listened to the audiobook and then I read the beautiful graphic novel.

What I Did Like:
+Lyrical and beautiful. The audiobook is also narrated by the author, which lends and air of spoken word poetry to the entire thing. It’s captivating.
+Powerful message implied without hitting you upside the head with it. It’s there and it resonates. The note from the author at the end of the audiobook is also worth a read to really bring it home.
+The graphic novel captures the poetry beautifully. The artwork is perfect. Really, this just proves any format of this one is worth the time.

Who Should Read This One:
-Fans of powerful contemporary stories that pack a lesson in short, beautiful language.
-Poetry or spoken word fans will also like this one (for spoken word check out the audiobook).

My Rating: 5 Stars
This one is super powerful and recommended in any format for contemporary or poetry fans.

Great short book, written and read as a long poem. The subject matter was heartbreaking and you hope that the cycle Will is caught in Will stop with him. Definitely recommend the audio read by the author, and stay for his interview at the end.

I enjoyed the YA story. I have a hard time calling it a book as it only took about an hour to read. The way that the story was presented on the page would not have had the same impact if it has been presented as usually printed sentence sequence. So as for the style of the book, it enhanced a powerful story of gun violence, loyalty, environment and love. Will is dealt a blow when his brother Shawn is shot. Will knows that the “rules” say that he must avenge the death. As he descends in the elevator to go out and even the score……………………
