This novel was written in the mid-1990s so no cell phones or internet - I found this refreshing.  The primary character, Delia was so relatable.  Her entire life is taken up with the concerns of other people, her husband, her children, her sisters - she is slowly realizing that she does not have any life of her own.  And, so she walks out and finds a new life.  She starts over.  Excellent writing... from the first scene, I was hooked.

This book was beautiful but difficult for me since it's kind of a more dramatic version of my life, at least up until the end. I haven't read anything by Anne Tyler in years but I think I will try to seed them in every so often till I work through her entire catalogue because she's one of my forgotten favourites.

Really enjoyed this book, which I'm pleased about as I wasn't sure at first. It's reflective but not heavy-going.

Anne Tyler - one of my favourite authors.
From the movie "The Accidental Tourist" to the same book - then onwards from there. I love her characters, the quirky personalities, the down-to-earth people. And I love here stories of ordinary peoples lives.
Thank you Anne Tyler, for your great stories.

First 2 chapters - they were good but effecting my mood, so I put it down. It was meant to be a JHA book club pick but we abandoned it and Carol told me how it ends (disappointingly).
