It was good read but very slow to get through in the middle of book. It was emotional from the start but got lost in the middle the spice didn't have any effect on me.

Sloane and Lucian are both soulmates. What they had was special and the years apart they spent away from each other. Strengthen their bond more. I liked it, it was just sadly to longggg.

Dear Lord where to begin! I laughed, I cried, I cursed! This book gave me allllllll the feels!!!

I was curious from the previous two books to see how Sloane and Lucian came to be, why they hated each other so much.

Sloane, a cute librarian wants to start a family after her Dad dies and she feels like her biological clock is running out. Soooo she ventures out into the dating world with that in mind

Lucian is a powerful millionaire that runs an agency that digs up dirt on his client’s political rivals and blackmails them to help the client win when they run for office…if that makes sense

And they hate each other for mistakes done in the past.

*careful when looking at KU notes as they contain spoilers*

Things I liked
✔️ backstory chapters that showed how Sloane and Lucien came to be friends…and how they stopped being friends.
It added to the story and their relationship without taking away from the present
✔️ relationship between Sloane’s parents and Lucien - mostly seen in the flashbacks but also present between Lucien and Sloane’s mum
✔️ how Sloane’s dad acted as a father to Lucien more than his dad ever could
✔️sexual tension between them
✔️ spice - it wasn’t only blush-worthy, it was clear it was just physical attraction between them but also emotionally charged
✔️ Jealous Lucian >>>

Things I didn’t like:
✔️ I felt like the characters had no personality at times
✔️ Sloane’s view on men became, from what I understood, a smash or pass on whether they could give her children and make a good husband or not. Bit shallow really.
✔️ Lucien’s dad. He got away with his crimes too easily with the stroke when he should have suffered in prison for what he did

Afterthoughts:

After the first flashback scene, it was pretty obvious what had happened between them and why they “hated” each other so much. And the reason was, personally, lacking…? Silly?

The highlight of this book was Stef and Jeremy finally getting together.
Oh and lucian and Sloane I suppose

The whole crime ordeal with the Hugo’s finally came to a conclusion even if the plot was a little reused from the first book.

I struggled to finish this book as it got boring after they got together

Loved all the laugh out loud moments! My favourite in the series (and I usually hate enemies to lovers, but it wasn't really ever like that!)

My intuition was right- making It through the first two *was* worth it, just to read book 3.

The tension in that hotel scene will be burned into me for all of eternity

Defo my fav out of the series. Lucian is a smash.

This was a great way to wrap up this trilogy (pretty sure there aren't any more)! I've been intrigued about Lucian and Sloane's backstory since the beginning, and finally getting to see how their past played out, as well as their future, was so satisfying.

I liked seeing the final bits of the mystery/crime elements play out in this installment, and it was cool to see how everything was so interconnected from start to finish. I thought those parts were well done and were woven well into the existing story.

Sloane and Lucian certainly had a complex history, and watching their back and forth turn into something substantial was lovely. There were a few times where Lucian's demanding attitude truly annoyed me (see spoilers), but for the most part, I liked his protectiveness for Sloane and his change of heart once they decide to be together. I think they worked well together, and they kept up their snarky banter up even after they became a couple.

While Lucian, like Knox, was also an a-hole for almost the entire book, his reasoning made more sense and, while in no way justifiable, it was easier to see why he acted the way he did. For some reason, his behavior and attitude didn't irk me the same way Knox did in the first book.

Some of the steamy scenes were a bit overkill at times, but it wasn't too terrible. They could easily be skipped and you'd still get the full effect of the story.

Dude, actually ASK her to marry you. Don't just demand it. That's always been a big pet peeve of mine. Also, I get that you guys were kind of on a time crunch so to speak, but respect her opinion on the matter of how fast your relationship progresses or whether or not you should even be in a relationship. Also...we get it. He's well endowed. You really don't have to bring attention to it as many times as you did. Also, also...HE CLIMBED BACK THROUGH THE WINDOOOOOW! I died.

Lucian and Sloane are very cute - great grumpy sunshine!
