This was another great read in this series. Pacing wise, this book was better than Age of Swords. The build up to war and the tension within that war was great. Not to mention being left with another cliffhanger!

There were so many great moments in this book, and I found myself falling deeper in love with so many of the characters. Gifford has become an absolute favorite of mine, and I always looked forward to the chapters where he was the POV.

I also think Sullivan does an absolutely fantastic job showcasing how quickly life can change and, in a way, the meaningless of it all. How quickly one person can be there, but a split second later they are gone. This book was not devoid of sadness; once again I found my heart being ripped from me and feeling the same overwhelming emotion of grief as so many of the characters did.

I am going to take a brief break as I need to let the ending of this book settle. However, I am looking forward to the rest of this series, as well as the other series that Sullivan has written. He has made it to my top list of fantasy authors.

Age of War pulls you right back into Elan where Age of Swords left off. It’s a slow burn at first, ramping up to a searing second half that leaves you yearning for the next moment with baited breath until you turn the page when, suddenly, you’re in the glossary... Like the rest of the Legends, this is a great book with a satisfying connection to all the main players and just enough evolving information/revelations to make you wonder about the future books for days to come.

Such a great ending to the first "half" of this series. I'm so happy there are going to be three more books! I haven't read any of the other series that are set in this world and I thought it would be fun to go in blind, so to speak, to this prequel series. So I have no idea what is purported to happen to any of these characters in the mythos of the other novels. There were a lot of things I didn't see coming that, after reading some of the other reviews, others saw or had an inkling of.

It did take me a while to get into this one, but I think that's due to the fact that there was a long time between my reading of book 2 and book 3 while also reading several other series in between rather than any flaws with the book. There are a good number of characters and plot lines going on which is good, unless you are like me and decided to jump into the Wheel of Time and the Stormlight Archive among other things in the midst of this series. There are really great book recaps for each novel in this series available on the series website which I found really handy. I would love to see more authors do this!

Once my brain got back in gear for this series, I couldn't put it down. I really loved the character development in this book, especially the relationship between Raithe and Suri which absolutely slayed me! It was great to see all of our girl squad back too. So many great, interesting and different strong women in this novel. Roan and Brin are two of my favorites! I'm very excited for book 4 to be released later on this year!

Time to give a pause and start some other fantasy, I think I’m growing tired of the story.
Still a great book, though. Suri is such a great character, and the trials and tribulations Persephone has to go through, my dear.

Your favs are not ok.

“Even now.” DESTROYED

I have loved seeing these characters grow and learn (or unlearn) and watching as plots unfold.

Won’t go too far into this book because it’s #3 but I am dying to move on to #4 right now.
