I’m no longer connecting with the characters, the plot of this one was thin (quite repetitive of the second book in the end), and just didn’t love reading the various actions and justifications and definitions of battle, war, violence, heroes. Im not going to move on with this series.
It was an amazing read . It started to focus on other characters more and I enjoyed every moment of it.
I just adore this series. I put off reading the latest book because I have gone back to school, and I have very little time to read. I also really wanted to read the book as opposed to listen to it. I finally broke down and listened to the audible version, and enjoyed it just as much as reading the book. I have fallen in love with the characters (each and every one of them), and once again, cannot wait for the next book.

What a fabulous, engaging series this is. Michael Sullivan really knows how to tell I story! I zoomed through all three books in a shorter time than anything I've read in a long time simply because I found myself reading late into the night, engrossed in the adventure and eager to find out what would happen next to the characters I so enjoyed.
I was very happy with this book! The first started strong with lots of new possibilities of a new world with a new (to me) author. But then book two… we’ll it was BAD but it had some parts that were just hard to get past and enjoy within a realm of believability. But book 3 was a rousing comeback that caps off these stories pretty well. The first half was a bit slow but it picked up well in the second act. My only other hang up was that a few key moments felt like they needed more time and gravity to really set in.
Though many threads are left undone I’m interested to try book 4-6 which are touted a related trilogy with a different focus.
I was happy to Sullivan pulled no punches and left us with some heartbreak, some surprise, and some somber notes. Often plot armor leaves some characters invulnerable but Sullivan breaks most of this in book 3. Looking forward to the next trilogy!
