About as good as Winter Night was, which is to say I enjoyed it. Characterization was stronger this time around, and I honestly thought the finale was pretty great, if not much of an ending to the story. The immediate conflict of the trilogy is wrapped up, but there's still lots of room for storytelling which, I suppose, is where the Legends series comes into play.

I was clearly on a fantasy kick during the summer of 2016. So much so that, unfortunately, so much of it blurs together. But while I don't recall much of the actual events from this book, I do recall the feeling it left me with. This book was a ride, and it took me through all the emotions one would expect from a good fantasy novel. Is this story full of cliches? Absolutely. If you've made it this far, you're probably aware that this will not be the most unique story you'll ever read. But I think that's part of its charm. It left me with that feeling that I'd just read a classic, traditional-style fantasy. It's fun, it's exciting, it keeps you entertained. It's bold and soft and beautiful, and it's harsh and frustrating and overall addicting. I remember being satisfied with the end of this trilogy, being glad that I'd finally read it. I'd read the second and third books back to back, so that must say something about how enamored I was by it, even if it'll never be my favorite book or series in the world.

So be prepared for traditional, easily digestible fantasy. If you've made it this far, you'll probably love it, much like I did. After all, it's usually the first book that loses people in a series like this.

Finally done with this. I didn't like this volume as much as the last two. In the second I at least was interested in Laurana's coming to power. In this one she makes just the dumbest mistake. Raistlin coming into his was mildly interesting but I just feel such pity for Caramon because he's just so damn needy. And for Tika because she's in love with the dumb oaf. Kitiara is all over the place (I love you Tanis, rule with me, jk I could kill you and never shed a tear, but no really come be my king, love is for morons). Goldmoon and Riverwind really take a backseat. Tas is still the best.

Overall it's like my cousin (who introduced me to the series) said recently: it was a good entry into fantasy but having read much better stuff since, it doesn't do it for me like it used to. I have enjoyed live-tweeting the trilogy but better TBR that I haven't read previously impatiently awaits.

I struggled finishing the last book of this trilogy. Theres three parts to this book overall and the third part just seemed to drag which kind of sucked considering it’s the end and the wrap up of this trilogy.
