Wow! What a wild ride! My favorite thriller of the year so far. Multiple jaw dropping moments throughout this book. Karin really put a lot of thought and complexity into her characters. Everyone knows a version of a Leigh or a Callie. A heartbreaking end, but it brought it back full circle and could it have ended any other way? I don’t think so.

What a fucking wild ride. But honestly, I expect nothing less from Karin Slaughter. This book was insane from the start and didn’t let up from there. I loved how all the different parts came together and how I never stopped being shocked by the reveals throughout. I think the scene where
Andrew shoots up Callie in the old house
is perhaps the most uncomfortable I’ve ever felt reading a book, and I had to keep looking away from the words on the page. I was hoping for a
happier ending for Callie, but really I think Karin brought it together perfectly in a more realistic way.
Would definitely recommend, but  check content warnings.

Did not like the writing or content. Chapters were entirely too long.

Why did it take me so long to finish this book? I'd pick it up and read a few pages then set it down again for days at a time. Once I finally committed to finishing it (it helps when it's a past due library book) I couldn't put it down. I devoured the majority of it in 4 days. (which for me is an achievement since I read so slowly) Honestly, I'm not sure which character I loved more - Leigh or Callie? I loved the idea of these things happening during the pandemic, when things were already so tense and tumultuous. It took me back to the moments of the pandemic when you wanted it to be over but had no idea what tomorrow looked like when it was finally over or whether it was really ever going to be over.
