Reading this book was like watching a 90’s Horror movie whilst stuffing my face with popcorn.
The Hill family decides to start fresh and move away from the big city to this farm house in the countryside.
What’s the worse that could happen? That the previous owner was an exorcist? Finding a locked basement? Maybe mingling with demons?
You know what comes next… Possession sprinkled with some gore.
This is the typical haunted house story, where people don’t make the best choices.
(I almost shouted at the book because of it! Daniel, I’m talking to you!!!)
… and funny enough, the character I was more suspicious about, was the one that I ended up liking the most.
Even though I wish it was a bit more darker and gorier, I really like when books are fast paced and action packed and this one was a wild and fun ride that didn’t disappoint.
I guess now it’s time to read the sequel.
It’s giving the Ring meets the Exorcist. Definitely gave me the heebiejeebies while having several creepily ominous shit happen & some decent gory moments. Honorable mention was the daycare scene cuz yikes
the details are top knotch
Nick Roberts really gets you with the details he puts into his writing, makes you just envision what is going on, how the room in the temperature is, the smells. Great job, great book!

This was phenomenal and probably will end up as my favourite read this year.

This was well written and deserves the social hype it gets but at times I was left wanting more and I’m not sure if it’s because maybe supernatural horror doesn’t give me the punch some other horrors do.

Uh.....whoa. I don't usually like religious horror because most of it is just silliness, but this one was actually entertaining. It reads like I'm watching a movie, which I appreciate. It's spooky, fast-paced, and really packs a punch. Highly recommend. I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator did an excellent job, and the demonic voice effect sent shivers down my spine. I can't wait to read more of Nick Roberts' work.

"In the summer of 1994, psychologist Daniel Hill buys a rustic farmhouse nestled in the rolling hills of West Virginia.
Along with his wife and teenage daughter, the family uproots their lives in Ohio and moves south. They are initially seduced by the natural beauty of the country setting. That soon changes when they discover a hidden room in the basement with a well, boarded shut and adorned with crucifixes.
Local legends about the previous owner being an exorcist come to light, but by then, all Hell has broken loose."
Nick Roberts’ "The Exorcist’s House" plunges readers into a haunting tale that masterfully combines the creeping dread of the supernatural with the terror of body horror. From the start, the novel hooks you with its eerie atmosphere and refuses to let go, delivering a spine-tingling narrative filled with suspense and emotional depth.
One of the novel’s standout strengths is the way it explores human connection amidst the chaos. Roberts crafts characters that feel authentic and deeply relatable, from their fears and flaws to their moments of courage and vulnerability. The relationships within the story, particularly those among family members, add an emotional weight that makes the unfolding horrors hit the heart even harder.
The writing style is vivid, offering graphic details of what these characters are dealing with while maintaining an atmosphere that constantly keeps the reader's attention.
It’s a story that keeps you guessing, keeps you scared, and keeps you emotionally invested from beginning to end.
