More like a 3.5, maybe even 3.75, if you’re an ex-Catholic like myself who never met a possession story she didn’t find at least semi-intriguing. Started off a bit slow but picks up steam after the first few chapters. A sort of odd but effective humor runs throughout the story which did sometimes crop up at surprising moments but I found that an interesting narrative choice especially in relation to the subject matter.

Was an easy read, but super basic, felt like a story I’ve read/watched a million times before. Vibes of the conjuring, Amityville horror, the like.

A VERY gory haunted house story. A family with a teenage daughter moves into an abandoned house to flip it, but a demonic presence quickly seeps into their lives.

Brutal and dark. This book subverts the typical haunted house formula, adding in additional, unexpected perspectives. Filled with gore,  but never gratuitous. Truly tense and disturbing, but also c9ntaining glimpses of the love and determination that makes us human. Amazing ending.
