Wow what a sequel! The world gets a lot bigger, there are way more characters and POV's. It is incredible how fast paced this book feels. This series is fantastic

I was lucky enough to receive an E-ARC copy of this book from the author, Ryan Cahill.

EPIC BOOK. Improved on everything in Of Blood and Fire, but with a completely different writing style. Instead of a character-driven fantasy book, this book focuses a lot more on grisly action, and worldbuilding in depth. The storylines new to this book added a whole new layer of depth and plot, and built up a foundation for the next book. It was a lot more gruesome and bloody than the first adventure in this series, but it wasn't just empty action for filler, it was fighting with depth and reason behind it. I don't know why you haven't started this series if you are a fan of fantasy. Read it right now. Start with Of Blood and Fire which is free on Kindle Unlimited and otherwise only 3 dollars. It is worth a lot more than the price. I now eagerly wait for the release date of the third book in The Bound and the Broken series, and the next novella, The Exile.

Thank you, Ryan Cahill, for these amazing books.

An improvement in any way over the first book and I will certainly continue reading this series.
I do reserve 5 stars for books I absolutely love though and this book imo was "merely" very good.
This is a multi POV book and while I really enjoyed most of them I did find myself on a few POVs to sometimes lose focus/attention / feeling a little disinterested.
But that did not matter to much since the POVs switch a lot and the book is generally (for its length) a very fast read.

Wow. I was pleasantly happy with book one. Solid entry, solid idea, excited to see how it grew. Did it grow.

The world is getting bigger (but you’re not drowning in details), the battles are getting badder (in like the bad ass sense), and the characters are truly taking form. I wasn’t a huge Calen fan at the end of Of Blood & Darkness, but he had some HUGE character growth in this book. We see a young man who’s had to grow up, quickly, and isn’t just “the best” at everything.

These characters struggle, they feel real, and boy do they have some very real feelings.

I’m excited to devour all the novellas & final book. Let’s go!

My mind is blown at how fantastic this book is. With this book we have a world you are totally captivated by and you are absorbed into every detail.

The characters have wonderful arcs and you can see them growing and after 2 books you are starting to have those deep emotional connections that you only get with incredible books

With a book of this size, there are some parts where the speed and action slows and I think that's what makes this book a 5 star book. The ability to change the pace, but keep you engaged, interested and determined to read on, is what makes this book for me.

I like the homages to books like WoT and TFATF. Picking up on the bits that people loved and improving the elements that people sometimes didn't always enjoy .

With any book that has multiple PoV , some are more interesting to the reader than others, but from what other readers are saying, we all value different characters. That means there are no weak characters, because there is something for everyone

My final comment. Farda... what a character, anyone who says he's not the best character in the series so far, come fight me
