An interesting murder mystery. I liked the subject matter and the characters. Why only three stars? I felt the author could have allowed the reader to make assumptions, based on the information provided, as to what occurred. I felt there were places where everything was tied up in a bow, when the reader could have figured it out.

I had a good time overall. I found this really easy to get into and read. It wasn't what I expected going in, and I just wanted more from it. It is very much a murder mystery. Going in, I was expecting more of the paranormal aspect, which we don't get at all until the very end. The end had the vibe I was looking for, and I would have preferred the author to lean into that aspect throughout the whole book. Especially since the murder mystery element didn't have anything that was a big reveal or that I found shocking. The romance also fell a little flat. I think with more development it could have worked. I still had fun as the characters figured things out and could see myself rereading it.
This was a beautifully written book with well-developed main characters. The most interesting parts to me were the author's invented rituals for dealing with ghosts at a seance (summoning, protecting against them, getting them to depart once more, etc.), in addition to the two women who desire one another. However, the book was more murder mystery than supernatural and I wanted the reverse. Therefore, I really can't criticise the book in any meaningful way except that my expectations and preferences were different. If you like a murder mystery with a splash of supernatural and steamy desires between women, you'll love it!
