This was a pretty average rom-com type book. The set up is that two coworkers hate each other at first but then they actually find out that they are in love with each other. The writing was engaging and funny (sometimes the author had a charming and creative way in describing the characters' features which I enjoyed) but other than that it was pretty forgettable. There wasn't much in the way of conflict throughout the book which lowered the tension, and the main characters figured out that they liked each other very quickly, so there wasn't much going on there either.
The author also seemed very against "nice guys", but not like a fake nice guy fedora type, like she actually hates men who are nice, which seemed a little strange. I know that's a rom-com trope, as nice guys are supposed to be boring, but the two main characters went on and on about it a few too many times. Same was true for short men - the main character kept using height as a proxy for whether a man was good or not, making disparaging comments about her ex who was 5'6'' with a "fragile, boy-sized spine," or and constantly emphasizing the height difference between the two main characters (5'0'' and 6'5'') as a good and special thing. Just seemed a little lazy, because it's better to distinguish the main guy character as being attractive and better than other guys for reasons other than just being a lot taller than the main character's exes.

3 stars. first book of 2022!!! pretty cliché enemies to lovers novel, overall I thought it was kinda bland. there’s definitely cute moments and I commend Sally Thorne for her ability to write lovable, easy-to-root-for characters, but if you’re looking for an outstanding romance novel with depth and spontaneity, this isn’t the one to read.

Definitely enjoyed it but there was just something missing for me. But I do love a good enemies to lovers office romance.
