Didn’t care about the characters at all or what happened to any of them. Don’t read this book if you’re under 30, it’s cringey. Why is the stepdad talking about his 12 year old step daughters boobs and WHY do they talk so much about bodies and slutshaming.

A couple of things

1. Why are the police pursuing Alex and her husband for murdering AC when they have all this evidence that AC lied about who she is and is clearly targeting the family? Dead people can’t plant bombs, hack phones or doctor photos.

2. If AC could figure out who took the money and killed the gangster, why is it that the cops and gangsters couldn’t? I doubt there were that many guests at the fleabag hotel.

3. The ending was absolute garbage. Anything good about this book was undone by the nonsensical convoluted claptrap that was the resolution.

4. Why didn’t she just apologise as soon as she saw the post? And then when the social media manager at the husbands work got involved, why wouldn’t you take full advantage of that? And while we’re on this, the Mr Fluffles account - they couldn’t block him! Really? Mate you can block anybody for any reason online.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC of The Personal Assistant by Kimberly Belle.

This was an entertaining, fast paced thriller! The story follows Alex, her husband Patrick and her two daughters. Alex is a social media influencer who hires Anna Claire “AC” as her personal assistant. Things start to go haywire when a video is circulating the internet, posted from Alexs’ Instagram, bad mouthing a teenage influencer. The next morning, AC is nowhere to be found.

I enjoyed this quite a bit! It reminded me of My Darling Husband but that’s not a bad thing at all. I connected with this book because I use social media for everything and I understand how you can get addicted and caught up in likes, comments and the opinions of others. What you see online is usually not the truth. People share what they want you to believe.

Overall, this was great story! We kept finding out secrets about each character, things I didn’t expect at all. It had great flow and easiness. I recommend if you like thrillers!
