Ten years of secrets. Five years of love. One year of betrayal. And now two spies wake up handcuffed together, bloody and bruised, with no clue who’s hunting them or why.
Ally Carter delivers a fast paced, banter filled ride with equal parts danger, romance, and spy chaos. The tension between these rival turned lovers crackles on every page. Are they going to save each other or kill each other first?
The dual narration works perfectly for this story. The banter was sharp and you can feel the chemistry and the tension in every exchange.
If you like thrillers with a dash of romance, or romance with a dose of danger, this one’s a blast.

I really enjoyed the Blonde Identity, so was really excited for the sequel, but this one did not retain the magic. I think the biggest issue was the decision to make the storytelling so choppy as it bounced back and forth between present day and 8 years ago, with each chapter being about 3-5 pages long. Between the time and location jumps, the story was hard to follow and with so much of it being backstory, there wasn't much dramatic tension or stakes until the final pages. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

I really liked the concept of this book and still think this series would lend itself well to film. I love the retro style cover art and actually enjoyed the time-jump layout.
That said, there were a few plot holes that didn't get resolved (why would Tyler stop looking for the ring after he lured King to Vegas to get it, how did King know who Alex was at the airport in Ramada? ) and at times the dialogue leaned towards trite. In particular, I found the dialogue describing love (especially towards the end of the book) cloying.
Regardless, I adore Alex's wit and humor. My favorite parts of the novel were when Alex, Zoe, Sawyer, and King were all together.
