Meet Tohru Honda, a female teenage orphan, who goes to high school by day, works several jobs by night, and is living in a tent in the local forest. Fate soon brings young Tohru and the local mysterious Sohma family together, but the Sohmas’ have a dark secret… they are all animals from the Chinese Zodiac and change forms when hugged by a member of the opposite sex! An entertaining read sure to delight tween readers and fans of Shojo Manga.

I liked fruits basket alot I don't know why but I was excited to read it I was really sad that their was only 26 volumes I wish there were more
Everyone is Japanese I think. Deals with gender expression. Mild nudity but nothing is revealed.
Splendid graphic novel. The story is sweet and there's a minimal of short skirts and revealing outfits. The story does get emotionally intense. Appropriate for 11-18.
I own volumes 1-23. Keeping as part of the home library.

Big time teenage drama. While this is a cute story its about a bunch of people that have the worst parents or circumstances. I enjoyed finding out about the zodiac, but the story bogged down after that with all the woe and doom and gloom.
Thankfully the ending makes up for all of it with bright and shiny ending that positively radiates hope.
I wish the main character hadn't been quite so stupidly innocent...

Fruits Basket is the best manga I have every read. It is the manga I credit in making me an Otaku and what got me into anime/manga. The story is unique and entertaining, the characters are relatable and the drama is out of this world. The ending was predictable in terms of who was going to end up with who, but the twist and turns along the way made up for it. Fruits Basket is something I could read over and over.
