Beautiful and thought provoking.

This was the best book I have ever read.
Exciting, gripping, sad, scary and extremely funny. I don't know why people are giving it less than 5!

3.5

I did enjoy this book, however I feel it didn’t quite meet the expectations I had for it after how incredible of a read the midnight library was for me. I really enjoy Matt Haig’s easy, humorous writing style and the story is a nice idea. There are some really warm moments and you do deepen your appreciation for little human things.

This book was alright. I initially thought the alien descriptions of human things was cute (you're right! Clothes are weird! What strange social constructs we've created for ourselves!), but then it kept up, item after item, interaction after interaction, and became quite grating. The main character's take on humanity was actually quite hopeful and refreshing-- I did leave the book with a renewed sense of wonder-- but I don't know of Matt Haig's writing is for me. He sure does like to hit you over the head with things.
