Picked this up to read through before recommending to a witchy friend. This is not a spell book. This is a serious guide to incorporating self care practices into a witchy lifestyle. The book assumes you are already practicing and does not try to be a primer for baby witches.

Focuses on rituals and exercises in four different spheres of self care:
Mental/Emotional
Physical
Spiritual
Household

Every section is full of practical advice ranging from journaling exercises on mindfulness to guided meditations and recipes for aromatherapy.

This book is split into five different chapters: Self-Care and Magic, Mental and Emotional Self-Care, Physical Self-Care, Spiritual Self-Care, and Household Self-Care. Chapter one, Self-care and Magic, gives a broad overview of self-care and tips on what self-care might be for you. This was a great overview for people who are unfamiliar with self-care or just don’t have a large understanding of what it might mean.

Chapters 2 and Chapters 4 are probably my favorite part of this book. Mental and emotional self-care is extremely important, especially in this day and age, and I really loved how she presented little ways to focus on yourself everyday. This is the part that I really want to incorporate in my daily life because I want to focus more on me, especially first thing in the morning, instead of instantly checking my phone and being weighed down by outside life. Chapter 4 is about spiritual self-care and how to honor the gods and deities you believe in. I love that she gives us ways to honor the gods and help ourselves in the process. I also really enjoyed the lists of animals and values they are associated with. It’s a great way to incorporate animals into your work, especially if you feel very connected to a specific animal.

While I enjoyed this book I did have some issues with it. I really liked how the author approached self-care and the information she provides about self-care. What I didn’t really enjoy was chapter 3 because it was mostly about recipes for different meals, teas, and skincare. None of them felt they were about self-care though. They felt more like these recipes were for comfort and didn’t really help improve your mental/physical state. Also, they didn’t seem to be healthy recipes which I feel is part of physical care.

Overall, this book was good though. It was very informative about self-care and a great start for people looking to improve their mental/physical self.

I found this book very helpful for blending my spiritual practice into my self care, and vice versa. As a novice witch, I was able to understand everything and will continue to use it as a reference in my practice

This book is kinda meh.
First red flag of this book was at the start when the author repeated the word “self-care” way too many times to get her point across.

There’s a lot of tips but none that’s mind blowing and it’s all stuff we’ve learnt before. Journal, make a morning routine, unplug from social media etc.,

You have to be in a certain mindset to fully appreciate this book and sadly, I wasn’t there. Right now, the spells feels really wishy-washy for me.

Better to flip through this to find what you need in the moment instead of reading it chronologically. Take it with a pinch of salt.

I appreciate that the author talks about meditation beyond sitting still. I'm a big believer in active mindfulness meditation while focusing on a single task or while taking a walk in nature!

Another reference book for the craft! Always fun for activities and spell work. Not really for beginners, just because it’s not going over any basics but that’s okay.
