If you ever get a chance to read the Pooh Bear stories aloud to someone, whether child or adult, take it.
I'm sure that 90% of my enjoyment of this is pure nostalgia, but regardless this is a stellar children's book. Milne's laid-back and congenial writing style coupled with the relaxed nature of every story lends itself to some pretty humorous and whimsical stories. None of the characters in this book are all that smart, nor do they (for the most part, looking at you Owl) claim to be, and it gives each chapter a nice sense of humor as each character misinterprets each other while the reader gets to chuckle at their cluelessness. I personally preferred the premise of the first book included here where Milne is reading the story to both Christopher Robin and the other characters, so we get a fair share of interjections from everyone, but the second book more than makes up for that by having some of the best chapters out of both books. Shepard's drawings are also a high point for this book. Each drawing has so much movement in it, from motion and speed lines on a windy day to expressive character gestures, and it makes it so easy to fall in love with each character. Every single drawing has such a cozy vibe to it, and it pairs perfectly with the stories they depict. Again, all these praises are possibly due to my own personal history with this book, but that doesn't change my overall opinion that this is one of the best children's books ever.
Just finished reading with Baby Charles, like I did with his big sis 10.5 years ago. Made me cry at the end of House at Pooh Corner ðŸ˜

I love reading children’s classics! The illustrations in this were 15/10 so good and I enjoyed revisiting all the stories.
Loved reading this book with my daughter-lots of humor for the adults :)

This is literally such an amazing book, I can’t recommend it enough! I laughed out loud multiple times and the illustrations are so cute I could die. I owned this book since I was a child and I’m so glad I finally read it.
