Senhor das Sombras

This book had a lot of complications in it, lots of wrenches thrown into the plans, lots of forbidden love, you know the usual. I honestly don’t feel like a whole lot got done in this book even though it’s several hundred pages long. Of course things were happening and questions were answered but not much as far as plot and character progression. The pacing just wasn’t the best to me and the POV switching gave insight but also slowed down the amount of stuff you could actually get done. It only really picked up literally in the last maybe 50 or so pages.

To be honest I don’t remember much of this book only that the POV changes were kinda hard because it was only a new paragraph sometimes separated by 3 stars sometimes not so I would find myself still reading in the previous characters voice and getting confused and needing to reread it and that I really hate the Cohort.

I think this book would’ve been better received if I had read it like years and years in the future when we weren’t currently dealing with Cohort level bigotry in the real world today. It’s hard when you’re so full of rage with the world and you see it reflected in this fantasy world as well. It fits because usually the shadow world mimics the mundane world and it’s set in present day but still. When you use fantasy as an escape from your own world and your own troubles and you end up facing those same things where you’re trying to escape to it just gets frustrating.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, um so why did that have to happen okay....

Felt too long and lost the plot. Don't like the occasional insertion of modern values. Emma and Julian are just frustrating

I AM SOBBING I AM DEAD AND I AM NOT OKAY. I never saw that ending coming I am devastated all of my children oh my gosh why. This was leagues above Lady Midnight and easily one of Cassandra Clare's best books so far. I laughed and sobbed and yelled and almost threw my book more than once. Absolutely addictive and heartbreaking. Loved it.

Still my favorite Shadowhunter book even if it HURTS.
I love that we get more Kit and faerie, but I especially like that we get more appreciation for Julian, both for how amazing and self sacrificing he’s been in the name of love for his family, but also for his clever genius mind.

MISS CASSANDRA CLARE MUST YOU ALWAYS DO THAT

Yes, it was great.

Absolute loved it.

BUT just these two book out of the trilogy and it just feels like constant p a i n

How could you kill off Livvy AND Robert—just one would have been fine, easy to handle even but TWO

Julian holding livvy broke me—Alec going up to his dead father and his dad has just started to try and be a good person for his family.

It’s like one bad thing happens after the others nonstop for 700 pages, and I loved it, and I will keep reading it, but it hurts

Wow. Even though I was spoiled about some of the things that happen. I did not expect it to happen that way. Huge cliffhanger, trying to keep my review spoiler free because my fiancee hasn't read it yet. Grown to really like Kit, hopefully he can use mundane history to explain why what the deerborne family want is wrong.
