Oh Jesus Christ. Nothing is resolved and the ending is the most painful thing I’ve ever laid eyes upon. I need the next book NOWWWWW
im giving this one 3.5/5 it wasnt that i hated it but i also didnt love it - i found myself pretty bored and pushing myself to continue reading this one. I just found it a bit repetative and dragged on in certain chapters, but then also at the same time there was some parts of the book that I loved and found entertaining. Majority of the time i was convincing myself to keep reading because ive made it this far already, the last 2-3 chapters of the book is where it got exciting and good. To then read the end and it finishes WITH THAT ENDING, now i have to read the third book when i didnt have any intentions of continuing. Im hoping with the third book it doesnt leave me dissapointed.
Overall in saying though i did love all the different POV from the characters, still thoroughly enjoyed the character development of ty, livvy and kit. The love triangle between mark, Kieran and Christina still has me guessing whats going to happen there and who she will pick. Will Emma be exiled and is that really going to fix her and Julians problems of being forbidden parabatai lovers.
Now i have no choice but to continue with the third... starting tonight.
Wish me luck!!!

WTF THAT ENDING!!! I'M SO SAD!!! I CANNOT WAIT TWO YEARS FOR THE QUEEN OF AIR AND DARKNESS!!!
I loved it, maybe less than LD but woah it's still so so good. The TDA gang is back and I love them. I love them so much.
Ugh! I can’t life right now. I don’t know how to handle the end of this book, it’s beyond amazing. Though my heart and soul have been crushed and I am beyond myself, I am also delighted on how well this book was written and everything fell into place. Do yourself a favor and read this book NOW.
one of the strongest cassandra clare books.

omg omg omg this book was amazing, and if you haven't read it plz don't keep reading this book blurb
alright I have wanted to read this book for the longest time and I finally did. I read the book in less than 24 hours!! that's how much I wanted to read this book. I could talk forever about this book bc there is so much to talk about but to preserve time here's the big takeaways!
characters and plot
-kit and ty. my babies. in lady midnight, I knew I was going to like these two, and after finishing this book, they are my loves. ty just grew up so much in this book. with finding out he has autism and how he doesn't understand sarcasm and they have to give him hints, to his idea of writing to Annabel to gets in contact with her. ty is a smart and crafty character, and I loved getting to see all the ways he uses his knowledge to help the blackthorns. also whenever he asked kit to hold him>>> what a beautiful scene. whenever bridget let him take a Sherlock holmes book I died bc there was this thing where ty was Sherlock and kit was Watson, and I loved it.
kit was definitely my favorite character in the book. now he was a little bitter and moody, but he still managed to grow up throughout this book and start to embrace himself. especially near the end of the book when they were battling the riders and he finally said he was Christopher Herondale and he was a shadowhunter bc throughout the entire book he was trying to plan his escape and stole things, so he could leave and hearing him finally embrace his destiny was a beautiful moment.
emma and julian. now these two were kind of frustrating to read from since they kept denying their feelings for one another until the sweet cottage scene. I really do like both of them, and the positive influence they have on each other's lives. however, I do think Julian can come off a little toxic and might make harmful decisions in the future especially whenever he threatened to kill the unseelie king's son and said he didn't have "anything to lose" and how if robert lightwood didn't agree they could take other measures hmm. the important thing to take away from these two is the parabatai bond. when they went to the faerie land and the person told Julian that he would find a way to break the parabatai bond... ughh. then, julian finds out if he breaks his, then, they would break all the parabatai BONDS!! what in the world! this means clary/simon, jace/alec etc would be donezos! the idea that this could happen freaks me out. again, this will definitely be brought up in the next book and especially with their plan failing bc of current events, I need to know what happens.
cristina/mark/ kiernan. their relationship confuses me. and they give me threesome vibes especially since kiernan has shown interest in cristina. their storyline interests me and I personally ship cristina and mark together. their dance scene in the fae land and kiss were iconic. kiernan really developed in this book for the better bc in the last book he was clingy and selfish. this book, he decides to speak for the clave and helps others before thinking of himself.
dru. finally unto my last person I will go in analysis about. dru was someone who I was convinced might die in this book bc of her lack of a storyline in LM. however, we really started to relate to dru and how she feels different amongst the rest of the blackthorns bc she is treated like a child. I liked how she was able to make a friend in Jaime (even if I don't trust him one bit like I know he is hiding an object) and have a connection with someone outside of her family. also her getting zapped to the faerie world was crazyyyy!! I do watch polandbananasbooks and believe that the "ash" faerie was Sebastian/ seelie queen's love child. again, I would much rather see her relationship with ash than Jaime, but i'm excited to read more about her in the next book.
things to mention quickly:
gotta shoutout magnus and Alec for having a huge presence in this book bc I loved all of their funny, lines especially alec's clapback at zara and magnus walking in on emma and Julian (deja vu?). the London insitiute was a joy to read from bc I loved TID and having jessamine appear in this book by being able to communicate through kit was hilarious. I miss her.
also, we have to be scared about magnus collapsing before the council meeting, and clary dreaming about dying. i'm scared for both of them and I really do want them both ALIVE in TQIAAD!!
no paragraphs for malcolm, zara and Annabel bc malcolm raised Annabel which legit ruined everything, zara was a jerk ,and I'm terrified if her family/downworlders haters get power it's WW2 (similarities anyone). Annabel seemed nice, but I can't ignore what she did at the end (I will mention in a sec), and the fact that she might be working with the UNSEELIE KING UGGHHHHH
-rip Arthur, jon, robert and of course our ray of sunshine livvy. her dead scene was awful and although I might have seen it coming, she brought kit and ty together, had her first kiss, could have been parabatai with ty, and was amazing in every way. love u girl.
in conclusion:
this book gets a five because even though I wasn't able to talk about everything, the book really was beautifully written and a delight to read! i'm scared for the next book because it might be dark in certain parts but i'm excited to see how TDA ends.

FULL REVIEW & DISCUSSION: https://readbytiffany.wordpress.com/2018/01/13/the-dark-artifices-lord-of-shadows-book-review-discussion-reread/
In my opinion, the second books in Cassandra Clare’s series are not as strong as the first. City of Ashes was not as good as City of Bones. Clockwork Prince was not as good as Clockwork Angel. Lord of Shadows was not as good as Lady Midnight. Don’t get me wrong. ALL of Cassie’s books are great, and I would recommend everyone to read every single one of them. However, since the second books are more informational, the plotline and the pacing do not complement each other as well as the other books in her series.
One thing I absolutely love about this book is how politically and socially relevant it is.
