I appreciate the issues this book addresses: sex-based discrimination, sexual harassment, parental leave, costs of childcare, the pressures of societal expectations. Overall, the book didn’t really work for me because of its style. It’s fiction that reads like nonfiction, and while I think the idea is cool, the actual execution wasn’t great.

The last few pages explain why this style is used, and I think I would have enjoyed it more if this was introduced at the beginning of the book rather than as a surprise at the end.<\spoiler>

Occasionally reading like an argumentative essay, this novel is highly educational and also maintains a strong narrative to pull you through. The author and narrator expertly convey the implicit and explicit misogyny and sexism suffered by our protagonist. My one gripe is I thought the ending detracted from the narrative of the protagonist. A must read.

Es un libro corto y conciso. Me costaría colocar este libro como ficción. Kim Ji Young tiene la vida de cualquier mujer de clase media. 
Tiene la estructura de un ensayo. No hay dialogos, los personajes no tienen personalidad. Kim Ji Young fue usada como una herramienta para describirnos los episodios comunes de machismo que viven todas mujeres en sur Corea, agregando en el camino datos y estadisticas.
Vivo al otro lado del planeta y pudo identificarme de muchas cosas que ella vivio. Igual que en Sur Corea, latinoamerica no se caracteriza por su gran igual de género aunque solo un item más en la gran lista de problemas que hay en este lado del mundo.
