'Hidden' is the fifth in Jacka's series about Alex Verus. Verus is a diviner, a type of mage who specialises in seeing future possibilities. In this novel, his past as a Dark Mage comes back to haunt him; rumours are swirling around London that his former master is back in town. Whilst a friend who has distanced herself from him because of that past sees her own history coming back to bite her.

This is a good, solidly written fantasy story with plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting. I would recommend this series to those who like other urban fantasy such as Jim Butcher's Dresden Files.
