That cliffhanger?!!! Damn. Why would a writer possibly end a book with something like that??

Pandemonium was a brilliant sequel. A few times throughout the story I felt like it was a bit of a filler book, more like a bridge to Requiem, but then again Julian Fineman happens and damn, this was over way too soon. The first few chapters were a bit difficult to get through, mainly because I really had to get used to this new Lena, the "wild" Lena. Obviously she has a lot to adapt to and she's grieving about Alex, but I felt like she wasn't doing enough to stay alive. As soon as she got involved with the Invalids, though, things got better.

I really liked some of the new characters Pandemonium introduces. Hunter and Squirrel seemed nice, and I've even developed a soft spot for Tack; though that could just be because I love his name. Raven, though, didn't appeal to me at all: She seemed too headstrong and harsh, even considering the circumstances. She gained some credit in the final chapter, though. Lena was different. I liked how her characteristics changed during the story, how determined and fervent she became. On the other hand, I found the way she fell for Julian so quickly really fake. He's a lovely guy, sure, but really? You're grieving your dead boyfriend, you're in a lifethreatening situation and with someone who wants "your sort" wiped out, and you fall in love with him?! Seemed a bit fake to me. There were other things in the story too, that seemed fake, for example the way Lena succeeds in almost everything she does. When does that ever happen, especially in situations like those? But then, of course, there's Julian freaking Fineman. Lovely Julian. Totally my new favorite character in this series. What a character, really: the oldest of sorts. Convinced his way of living is the right way, meets a girl and gives everything up for her. But oh, doesn't that make him the best person in this entire book. I can almost picture him brooding over what that feeling in his stomach is that he gets around Lena... Is that me babbling? Yes it is. Oh Julian, what you do to me...

But, despite the above, I really liked this book. The lack of excitement until the end didn't keep it from being fastpaced and thrilling. As soon as the action came, I couldn't put the book down and I finished the last 150 pages in one sitting. Lauren Oliver's writing style is beautiful: She weaves beautiful metaphors and deep thoughts into rather simple yet detailed storytelling and manages to string everything together in a truly gripping book. That cliffhanger, dammit, I'm still shaking with anticipation for what happens next. I'm not even sure who I want Lena to end up with: In Delirium I was totally team Alex, but now I'm team Julian all the way. What are you doing to me, Lauren Oliver? Now I have to buy Requiem like, NOW, and it's not even payday. Damn you, Pandemonium. Damn you.

It was like the first one perfect! I love the story of Lena. And the end... I don't know what to feel... I can't wait to read the last book.

Even better the 2nd time!

Much better than the first. Interesting, fast paced and enjoyable. An easy read which was great for the evening train home from work!

It started slow, it was a bit uninteresting, but as the story went on it became so gripping and the ending ... Oh god the ending, can't wait to find out what happens next!

This book. Thiiiiiiiiiissss book. I didn't even mark it as currently reading or update my progress, because I sat down and read it the last 24 hours.

Pandemonium was just amazing. If you read and even somewhat enjoyed Delirium, then I would highly recommend this book. The book picks up right where Delirium left off, which is fabulous, but also flashes to "present." The narrative seems strange at first, but it was very enjoyable and kept the pacing going very quickly to the point where you find yourself unable to put the damn thing down.

I really loved Lena's character in Pandemonium as well. While I found her rather whiny in some instances of Delirium, she really began coming into her own and taking control of her life and emotions in Pandemonium. the new characters, without spoiling, are very well rounded and complex enough that the reader cares about them and what's going on with their story throughout the book as well as Lena's.

Oh and on the note of romance, prepare to swoon.

Now go out and get this book, I will wait and we can discuss when you've finished.

WOW! Another ending like Delirium. Theres such things as cliffhangers and then there is open endings meant to be a cliffhanger but just makes it agonizing to wait for the next book. Ugh..

Review to come in early March

i really like how much lena has evolved and grown since delirium. she's stronger and more independent.
i really enjoyed it. but im not going to lie, i guessed that julian was going to be her new love interest from the moment they introduced her and i hated it. i never thought that alex was dead, and she belongs with him dammit!
there's nothing wrong with julian, he seems like a top guy, but alex.. come on.
