The Taste of an Enemy is addictive and everything you crave in enemies to lovers.
Carson and Allie were once best friends. But that was years ago. Now, they can’t be in the same room without jabs thrown. That is until Carson walks in on his teammates at a party.
The banter between Carson and Allie was perfect. But I’m also pretty addicted to Carson’s softer side—hoping to get more of that in the next book.

The Taste of an Enemy is the 3rd book in The Boys of Clermont Bay series. This is the first book in Carson and Allie's story. This book is told from both their points of view.
Carson and Allie were friends, but something happened that tore them apart, however, they are still a part of the same friend group. Carson treats Allie badly.
When there is a bet, and someone else gets Allie's name, Carson decides he will do whatever he can to get Allie to like him and not this other guy.
Allie wants nothing to do with Carson at first for the way he treated her. However the more he shows up the more she starts to have feelings for him.
Will she find out about the bet? If so how will she take it? Can Carson prove he likes her more than just the bet? I really liked this book, and can't wait to see what happens next in Carson and Allie's story.

I am honestly obsessed with this series - Thank you Holly for creating a book world I don't just want to live in but read about forever.
This is book #1 of the Carson & Allie duet, and book #3 in the Boys of Clermont Bay series. This can be read as a standalone / first book of a duet without having read the previous 2x books in the series but it is recommended that you do.
Allie & Carson grew up being best childhood friends. Carson being a wealthy single child with parents who were dealing with their own drama / too busy to be parents, & Allie a middle household income child with parents who were not just in love but loved their daughter & had all the time for her. They took in Carson as their own creating a unique best friendship, until hormones got involved. Leaving Carson hating Allie & Allie with a broken heart by the age of 15.
We fast forward to their senior year, where Allie has befriended Carson's best friend, causing them to suddenly to interact by the same friendship groups. Carson is rude & ignorant to Allie, making her feel insignificant & unworthy. But Allie knows Carson well, & knows it is secretly himself who he feels that way about. Leaving Allie to just take it on the chin & stay out of his path of misery as best she can. Until Carson suddenly starts being nice to her & wanting to be her friend again, what changed?
Carson & Allie then pick up their old friendship banter but with a lustful twist. With them both giving in to their desires more than they should. Especially when a member of Carson baseball team starts showing interest in Allie, Carson makes sure she knows that he is jealous, causing tension throughout their friendship group. Until Allie gives in to Carson, exploding on a senior year camping trip where more truths come out to play ending their story on a cliffhanger with Allie once again having a broken heart.
I picked up book #2 right away! Read within 24 hours on kindle unlimited.
4.5/5 stars with 3/5 steam.
Please note even though this a high school romance, all characters are 18 & there is plenty of spice.

Holly Renee honestly never misses. The Boys of Clermont Bay series is one of my faves, so I was beyond excited to start the next duet in the series. I was worried because the “bet” trope is really overdone but Holly did it justice and it wasn’t cringey or obnoxious. I loved getting to see Josie and Beck again, too! Can’t wait to start the next book especially after that cliffhanger
Just what I wanted!
I only finished Beck and Josie's book a few days ago but I feel like I waited forever for Carson's book. It did not disappoint! I can't wait to read the conclusion on the 23rd!

Carson Hale is not loveable, but somehow you fall in love anyways. While his reasoning for no longer having Allie in his life is weak, the rift that it created is strong. This books feels like a true “set up” to the big finale in the next book. I didn’t love this book, but I was intrigued by this story and no the next book is going to be worth a read.
4.5 stars!!
I KNEW THIS BOOK WOULD BE GOOD!! I was so excited to get to Allie and Carson's book when I saw their interactions in Beck and Josie's duet, and this did NOT disappoint!
You can feel the love that they have for each other, and though Carson pushes her away and is downright cruel sometimes, you can tell that he cares deeply for her. His reason for not wanting to be with her is heartbreaking, and it shows how much he loves her that he doesn't want to break her heart, and he isn't selfish when it comes to her. Even if his way of protecting her from himself can be frustrating and cold, his intentions are heart-warming and selfless.
The only reason this is not a 5 star is because:
1) It was too short. I wanted more
