I really can't give any less than 4 stars to any Agatha Christie's novel. It's always such an enjoyable experience!

This is one of my favourite Poirot’s thus far. I didn’t know who did it until the end, and at the end I still felt like it was actually someone else. The story was really fun and you saw a little bit of a different side to Poirot. One of the Poirot’s I’d recommend reading first!

I loved Evil Under the Sun by Agatha Christie! It's definitely one of my favourite Hercule Poirot mysteries because Agatha Christie took great character with building intriguing characters who all could have been suspects.

Evil Under the Sun finds Hercule Poirot surrounded by a mix of interesting characters while on vacation at the Jolly Roger Hotel. As we get to know the colourful characters staying at the Jolly Roger, we discover the beautiful temptress Arlena Marshall has been murdered. Arlena, who was married to Captain Kenneth Marshall, was making her affair with the married Patrick Redfern quite obvious to the guests and thus no one was very surprised to find out she had been murdered. As with all great Poirot mysteries, we spend the rest of the novel learning each character's alibis and trying to put the pieces of Arlena's murder together.

I highly recommend Evil Under the Sun!

I found this Christie story really disappointing. The murder takes place in an isolated location, and there's a locked-room element in the sense that it takes place on a deserted and inaccessible beach. There is some nice character stuff, particularly the victim's troubled step-daughter. But the solution depends on crucial misdirection of the reader by the author, and the motivation for the crime is pretty obscure.

"It is peaceful. The sun shines. The sea is blue. But you forget, Miss Brewster, there is evil everywhere under the sun."

Evil Under the Sun is a classic whodunnit where a vacationing Poirot finds himself on duty, following a death at his resort hotel. I love these type of Christie books where there's a limited amount of suspects due to the circumstances of the death. Anyways, poor Poirot's vacation days in the sun are cut short as he gets to work on solving the murder of bronzed beauty Arlena Stuart.

"To count - really and truly to count - a woman must have goodness or brains" (Poirot)

I really do love Poirot mysteries, he's such a sneaky little mustachioed man full of quirky comments and it's enjoyable watching him slowly unfolded each murder case he works through. Fun fact: Evil Under the Sun takes place in Devon which is Christie's home county, I wonder if the story is inspired by a local story...

Evil Under the Sun is a perfect cozy beach read mystery, 4 stars!
