I'm an odd case - many Pratchett fans read this book last, or hold off on reading it with a sense of grief. This was my first Terry Pratchett book, picked up at an airport. This was the book that made me fall in love with Discworld, and especially with Tiffany Aching. This book is beautiful, compelling, and just incredible. But above all, this book is human . It showcases exactly what humanity should be, the balance of all things in the world. "FOR I CAN SEE THE BALANCE AND YOU HAVE LEFT THE WORLD MUCH BETTER THAN YOU FOUND IT, AND IF YOU ASK ME, said Death, NOBODY COULD DO ANY BETTER THAN THAT. . . .” GNU Terry Pratchett, and thank you for this masterpiece of a final work.

"i didn't have to. the magic was already here."

hey, i thought that the unfinished aspect of this book might make me love it less - i was wrong. it's a bit rushed in the beginning, but by an hour and a half or so in? it's up to his usual quality.

granny weatherwax's death in the beginning also strikes me as a wildly unintentional sort of symbolism. anyway. now excuse me while i run into the bathroom and cry.
