The writing is bad in this book. Cringey lines and scenarios, tons of gaping plot holes everywhere big or small, and a frustrating "marriage law" arc. So many things in this book are completely unrealistic that I just can no longer continue.
Much better than the first book. I still think the writing is baaaad but was pretty into the characters in this one. I mean, who doesn’t love a forbidden romance 🤭

This was by far my favorite book in the series and now I’m reassessing my finances to be able to hire a bodyguard…
I've never really been one to enjoy fairy tales as an adult. But this definitely feels like the kind of fairy tale I would dream of. It's dark, sultry, and just the right amount of mischievous that had me finishing this book in under a day. Ana, you legend.
When I was disappointed with Huang's other Sins series, I figured I would give this one a shot. I read this one after Twisted Hate, but oh well. I don't think my opinion would be different if I had read them in order.
Like the Sins book I did read, this book was just fine. I didn't hate it at all, but it certainly wasn't the nail-biting slow burn that I was hoping for or that it was described as by booktok. This is a shame because the premise has a lot of potential. That said, I think the greatest flaw was the length of the book. There was a lot of jumping around over the span of a few years, and I think this is why many readers were missing any romantic/character development. This story needed more burn, more fleshing out, and if that means it needs to be longer, I think that's worth it if it's done well. Meanwhile, I was beyond frustrated with the whole law-changing arc so that they could get married because the whole time I was just thinking, "Girl, if you want to marry this guy and (up until recently to the reader at least) have no interest in being Queen, why don't you just abdicate too???" The time and energy dedicated to reading about her changing this law would have been way better spent on reading actual development between Bridget and Rhys earlier on.
