I'm continuing to enjoy this wonderful m/m cozy mystery series by Josh Lanyon, narrated by Matt Haynes. In this book, Ellory is once again the prime suspect in a murder investigation when a famous ex boyfriend of his moves into town and then promptly gets murdered. He and Jack, the chief of police, had been out on their first date only days before, but since then Jack has withdrawn from Ellory again, leaving him confused. After the murder, Jack is all business and he and Ellory are at odds when Ellory decides he needs to find out the truth or possibly be arrested for murder.

The characters are lots of fun, even if I get a little frustrated with how many times Ellory makes dubious decisions or allows people to push him around.

Matt Haynes does a great job. He started good, and has gotten better. I do have to laugh at the way he voices Winston's bark! It sounds a little more like a strangled cat than a puppy! :-)

Enjoyable and cute though I figured out "whodunnit" pretty early on. There was more of a mystery with the first one. Good for a quick mindless read.

This was another great installment! I love the growing relationship and chemistry between Jack and Ellery, and the mystery was engaging (even though I did guess the ending, but even then there is fun in that!) I still wish Lanyon would find a different transition word other than "anyway," but I think I just find it annoying because I'm listening to this series on audio...

I loved this!!!! I can’t wait to continue

Pirates Cove is fast becoming a favorite place to visit. This series has my three favorite things: a cozy and warm atmosphere, a puzzling mystery and an adorable slow burn romance between the bookstore owner and the chief of police. This was such a suspenseful and cozy mystery that takes place in a charming town that is full of secrets and I can’t wait to read the next one.
