Okay wow. I devoured this book.
I loved the writing style and how the author included me, the reader, in the book. It honestly helped me feel more connected to the story and to the characters.
I also have never wanted to throw my kindle against the wall more than I have while reading this.
The book had every trope I hate, yet I was completely ENGROSSED in the story.
However, the added POV from the MMC was unnecessary. Yes it helped answer some questions, but it felt like I was reading the same book twice because it was basically the same chapters with just his thoughts written into it.

Ok so I did really like this book - though it may have some super cheesy writing when comparing Jamie to whiskey all the time. I also loved Jamie’s part of the book but I had to reread all the same dialogue for like 300 pages!! I was afraid to miss something so I did read it all but ughhhh I hated it. Love these characters and glad B and Jamie end up together.

Unique, angsty, devastatingly beautiful story with whiskey as a common thread🥰
I went into this knowing that it's a stroy of what-ifs and could-have-beens, that I would want to pull my hair and throw the book.
And I still wasn't prepared. I liked the writing a lot, especially all those small whiskey-facts woven into the story as analogies or prophecies of sorts. While I needed some time to adjust to the fact that the author would often forestall that the happy turnaround would not come just yet, it didn't take anything away from the story for me.
The only reason this was "only" a 4-star read is that I felt the final circle was just one too many. It felt a little far-fetched, and I found myself skimming through the intimacy because I was not able to enjoy it whilst knowing there's gonna be another "bad-timing" incident on the next page.
The ending, however, was chef's kiss✨️ Did it leave me ripped apart, yearning for more? Yes. Did I still feel it was the perfect ending? Also, yes.
Did I still love the fact that the author caved and wrote a novella from his POV after all? Hell yes!
That was a perfect way to heal my bruised heart and smooth things a little. So if you're not one for short, open endings, make sure to get the 5-year edition😉

this book is the perfect representation of the "right person, wrong time". i was squealing, screaming, and crying. the ending was totally unexpected!! literally love EVERYTHING about this book <3
This girl needs therapy. She pisses me off😃
This is a beautifully written book. Being a whiskey girl myself, I love the analogies that Kandi made. She makes it easy to connect and feel alongside her characters. I felt all the anger, love, heartbreak, frustration, and hope that her characters did.
Warning: don't read this book if you don't want to be in ALL of your feelings, especially anger.

Frustrating tropes. Toxic/controlling male lead. Any actual depth or intrigue is just glossed over. The whiskey metaphor is way over done and low-key insensitive? Alcohol use disorder isn’t fun or cutesy? I could be overthinking it though.
I am sad that I wasted an Audible credit on this.
