This was a really cute story, but I think I would have liked it more if I would have read it in Highschool

I guess this book really isn't for me.

This book is reallyy popular, so I actually kinda got my hopes up. I loved Levi, but I guess he was the only one I enjoyed about this book.

It really just didn't work for me.

I decided to re-read this book three days ago because I needed a comfort read.

When I was fifteen, Fangirl was *that* comfort read. Fangirl and Eleanor & Park were the books that continued to push my love for YA (along with The Fault In Our Stars, duh). It's funny how six years later I still feel a connection with this book— maybe it's even stronger now.

I could see my freshmen-year-self in Cath so much. How she's really passionate about her fandom, her struggles with her insecurities, family relationships, and social anxiety, etc. I felt like I was reading parts of my life, and it was so healing (and at moments, hilarious).

Welp, this review couldn't turn out more personal lol. Thank you, Rainbow, for writing this book ❤. I thanked you then, and I thank you now.

Since I've read it twice now, can I give it 10 stars???

Lots of fun for anyone who was or is involved in fan communities, doubly so for those who also write. Maybe triply for those who remember/live awkward college experiences.

I loved this!! I really liked almost everthing about this book.
The only thong that felt kind of off was that it didn't really have a plot.

Obviously I liked this book because I finished it in a day. Way better than Eleanor and Park.

Fangirl was an easy read overall. I was expecting something ... well ... more, but it was cute. What I loved was the main character, her introverted personality, one of which I can relate, and her relationship with her family. The drama with her mother was intense, however, it wasn't well resolved, as it happened in the second part of the book, where the focus was on the romantic relationship. Not that the latter wasn't interesting and entertaining. However, it wasn't that great, even though the start was pretty adorable.

Now, for the fanfiction part, that was nice to read, as it showed a part of the fangirl-fanboy culture that isn't that well known, especially when it comes to books. However, I must say that I stopped reading the fanfiction parts after a while as the characters weren't properly introduced and, hence, it didn't make me want to read about Simon and his adventures.

Finally, the writing was good, fun and fast paced.
