The story started out well and had tremendous potential. And then it fell flat. It did have some twists and turns I didn't see coming. In the end I gave it 2 stars due to the ending. I wasn't pleased. I feel I was left hanging on the outcome of some characters and details. I wish there would've been more details on the pictures taken while in Abandon. What about Lana? Will try this author again because I loved Wayward Pines.

I definitely enjoyed the experience of reading this book! It was basically a formulaic action movie a la James Bond…turned into a book. By that I mean that I guessed all of the twists because the formula for all of these stories is basically the same, but I still enjoyed it because of the fast-pace and suspenseful atmosphere. You can definitely tell this is a debut, but I did have fun reading it.

The back and further between present and past tense does not work at all. The past setting is mind numbingly boring, the characters are not at all written in such a way that you care about any of them. Not really an engaging read at all, I had to give up 2/5's through it.
I'm slightly heartbroken about this book. I was totally sucked in from the get go, freaked out to the point I told my husband he wasn't allowed to fall asleep until after I did. Then something switched, it got long, and not as creepy as it was originally. Then once I got a little further, I think I generally wasn't interested in the topic of the book. Super bummed about this one!
