I liked the premise but the execution could have been better. It was a decent read but I probably won’t re-read.

Amazing Forbidden Romance!

Kenzie and Tor are absolute soulmates. No one can write emotion and give you all the feels like Carian Cole. This book is sexy and swoony. It’s age gap, dads best friend, small town, family bonds, and steamy. Will be re-reading this one.

3 stars. To preface, I entered this read knowing that the topic was taboo and it was an older dad’s best friend trope, but the first 3 chapters of this book had me cringing and side eyeing. It took me a bit to be open to this type of love story, I guess you’ll know if you like a trope once you read it, and if you hate it. I do have to give props to the author for doing this book well. It was a slow start, I think the memories the author included really made this book a bit icky, it was just too much done with having them grow up together and him taking on a father role in her life. The line was super thin, but in the end, the author made it work. I won’t say I loved this book, because I didn’t, but there was some good parts to the story. I like how she knew what she wanted (even though I felt there was still a lot more growth for her to get through), and how each character had their own story. Overall, the book was okay, nothing exceptional, and would be a no recommendation.

DID NOT FINISH

I tried. Both MCs gave me the ick lol. The way this age gap was done honestly made me feel more weird about their relationship than I did at the start. Tor’s entire persona just made me cringe and I don’t even know why, so ig it’s more of a personal thing than anything

I have zero problems with an age gap, but this was not it.

This book completely consumed me. I couldn’t put this down until I finished it. Tor and Kenzi were the definition of soulmates.

Was this a taboo read? To a certain degree definitely, Tor raised Kenzi and was there for every step of her life, but he never once looked at her in any way other than his goddaughter. Yet one night just before she turns 18 something changes between them and Tor tries to fight it so much, feeling sick at the fact he no longer sees a girl in front of him but a woman. But Kenzi knows for certain the man who raised her is no longer someone she sees like an uncle but rather the only man who she can imagine spending her life with and loving unconditionally.

It was angsty, emotional, heart wrenching, spicy, basically a rollercoaster of emotions and I loved every second of this journey.

If you like a dads best friend, age gap, forbidden romance, then this will tick every box for you. It wasn’t just a taboo spicy book, it was emotional and romantic and an unforgettable read.
