LOVED this book. an enthralling and humorous story with an ultimately tragic ending that has such interesting characters and dynamics. more to say i’ll say it later. main negative thing is the racism (which seems to be directly from the sentiments of hugo) and the whole stolen-white-baby-plot.

This book is a classic, but the reading feels a little heavy at certain points. Still, the story is original, the topics are deep and dark, the characters function as allegories for the main plot. Sometimes is very noticeable that the story has the purpose of highlighting the Gothic architecture on France, but this is still enjoyable. DO NOT EXPECT ANYTHING DISNEY-LIKE!
