I had to read the fan translated version of this novel, but it was a phenomenal translation, and I know the translators put so much time into this mammoth novel so I am so very grateful to them for it!!
Simply put, this is one of the best pieces of work I have ever read in my life. The characters were so incredibly rich and multilayered (especially the villains), and Wei Wu Xian is one of my all time favourite main characters EVER. I could not be more in love with this novel. Wei Wu Xian and Lan Wang Ji's relationship was one of the best (if not THE best) slow build relationships I have ever read. I feel so damn much in my heart for these two characters. I feel so damn much in my heart for Wei Wu Xian, Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yan Li's relationship. Basically, I feel so damn much in my heart for just about every relationship that happened in this novel.
The world building was BEAUTIFUL. The characters were so richly written, but on top of that, the story was so incredibly good too?? I usually get one or the other, but to get both was utterly breathtaking, and I don't think I will ever stop talking about how much I loved this novel, and how world changing it was for me.
I was stuck constantly staring at a screen for a good couple of weeks thanks to this novel, and I just want to say thank you to the universe for helping me discover that it existed in the first place.
