Allllright so the only reason this book took this long to finish is because I has exams going on. The exams went good and my marks are amazing so is this book!!!

Okay so I'm just going to do an informal review here, with no sort of order. Let's begin!
First of all, the cinderella vibes. Eden was just PERFECT. She might say otherwise but she is just a perfect character meant for Cinderella role.

And
SpoilerDorian. Just...Dorian. Except not JUST Dorian. It's PRINCE Vincent. I KNEW it. Trust me, I KNEW it from the beggining that he shouldve been a prince. But I thought that tavern woman was Eden's mother, not DORIAN's.
So Dorian was this all flirty
Spoilerfae
guy.
SpoilerHE WAS THE BESSSSSSTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!
Dorian just gave the story a very good finishing, it wouldnt be complete if not for him. That's all you can know about him.

And oh, I cannot leave Prince Evander after all. I just cant.
Spoiler The Villain of the story. Because of him, Allemar is back, I hate him. I mean, why does he hate Dorian so much? But
if not for him, this story wouldnt have been complete at all.
SpoilerA story needs it's villain.

And for the side characters. Merri. She played a VITAL role in this story. I suspect that she would be the next main character. I also suspect that she's Ariel. Loves to sing, Red hair and controls water? Definitely Ariel. I loved the mystery element of this book, you are just hooked to the book's plot till the end. You can guess what's gonna happen but youre not bored because of it. It's amazing how she does that.

You can tell what's gonna happen like a fifty pages before, you can tell who's the hero and who's not. But you are NOT bored because of it, I cant explain it exactly. I loved how the name "Cinder De Ella" came to be in this story, that was a fine touch to the story.

Serious spoilers here

SpoilerOK can we just appreciate Dorian again? I mean he was beaten and abused all his life when he was a PRINCE. Just because he was born. He was stripped out of his title and was forced ainto being a SLAVE. His first love was poisoned by his step mother and he knows it but couldnt do anything about it. He just wants all of his people to be happy. And then he falls for Eden and she hurts him. And that bastard evander hurts him because he just wants to hurt him, no reason!!!! I mean WHAT. THE. HECK. He is a poor guy!!! He cant even tell his OWN MOTHER that he is her son!!!! I love this guy smh *teary eyed*, he's amazing.

"Doesnt seem to fit," he teased. "No wonder you kept losing them."
"They never belonged to me."
"Dont worry." He tossed the glass slippers onto my bed. "For I belong to you"

FLIRT STRAIGHT OUT!!!!

So if you havent read it...Just....I'll seriously cry if you wont read it. And now we are gonna rant about the ending. Seriously. I havent laughed SO HARD my entire life lmaoooooo.

"Someone stop those monkeys," King Ferdinand ordered.
Bravado whistled between his fingers, and the monkeys failed to resond. "Well, I tried." He shrugged.
"Try harder" Ferdinand yelled.
"They're not my monkeys," Bravado huffed indignantly. "But for the right price, say sixty gold coins, they can be your monkeys and your problem."

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I mean WHEN this happened that takes it to a totally different turn!!!!
SpoilerI mean a monkey commotion? Can you hope for a better wedding day?? lmaoooo

And then we have this sparrow thing with Dorian. I hated it.
SpoilerYou think I'll say that? NO!!! It was SO CUTE lol. The ending was just so funny how he thought of naming all his animals, Sparrow lol

So I loved this book. That's underrated. READ IT NOWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's more like it now.

While this wasn't your typical Cinderella retelling, it felt full and imaginative. I loved Eden's character and loved her magic glamour abilities even more! The romance in this novel was swoon-worthy as always. While the ending wasn't what I was anticipating or what I would have preferred it to be, I understand the reasoning behind it.

Enjoyably wonderful! Some of the twists were fun, and challenging for me to see how this story would work itself out. Another great addition to the series, and one I definitely recommend. I read this whole book with a smile on my face, it was so great to finally have another one in my hot little hands. I can't wait for more of the sisters to get their stories!

In the Selection meets Cinderella, Eden, the second adopted daughter of Eville, has the opportunity to attend a ball in her home kingdom. The prince needs a bride, but a prophecy says that a witch will kill him on his wedding night. To make things worse, Eden has been sent to learn the truth about her family and get revenge about what happened to them. If she wins the contest and the prince falls for her, will she need kill him? She's tired of being manipulated and doesn't want to kill the prince. But can she fight against her destiny?

I liked Eden a lot. She has a lot of self-esteem issues - her sisters are prettier, more talented, and so on, but as was the case with her older sister, she is perfect for this role. Her strength is illusion magic. For a ball filled with beautiful gowns, it's a great gift. She is also able to change her appearance to that of other people, making her escapades in and out of the castle so much fun. Something that frustrated me, though, was the narrative she allowed to define her, that she was adopted because her parents didn't want her. But that simply isn't true. And even when she learns the truth, she still holds on to this narrative. Child, your parents loved you which is why they gave you to someone else to raise. You may not agree with their decision, but it was a legitimate, possibly-life-saving choice on their part. Let it go and let yourself believe you were loved! She gets there in the end. Sort of

My only other complaint is the same as the previous book. The love interest was a bit of a mess. Yes, there were reasons. No, that doesn't excuse bad behavior. And my personal pet peeve, the boy had a plan and if the girl had just trusted him, he would have saved the day and protected her. Bleh. 1. You never told her you had a plan. 2. You never told her you knew what was going on. 3. She was trying to save you. And 4. Did you forget the prophecy? Come on, silly boy, everything does not revolve around you! Okay, vent over. In my opinion, she did good. Not her fault if he doesn't appreciate her!

Anyway, it was still a fun story. While not my favorite Cinderella retelling, we can blame that on the sheer quantity of Cinderella retellings I've read lately. And it is still a solid read. I like the way Chanda overlaps her books too. This story took place after the main events of book 1, but before the epilogue.

Cinderella retelling. Second book of the series and I loved the storyline and plot twist. Reference to the first book main character was a little bit overdone. Especially for that character to not have a significant role in this book. The sister that was discussed was a little intro to the next book. I’m excited to continue this series.
