This is going to be more of a stream of consciousness review than I what I usually do, but here goes.

I was so excited going into this book because I really love the author’s 𝘞𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 series, and I was so looking forward to more of her writing, but unfortunately this one just wasn’t for me.

First of all, the mental health aspects of this story just didn’t work for me. I’m not expert in the field, but everything just felt off from the diagnoses/characters actions to the facility, to the lack of support or supervision. I definitely kept getting pulled out of the story, which for sure impacted my enjoyment.

Now…I will say, I do really love the idea of two characters coming together, one with no emotions, and one with too many, but unfortunately how it came together just didn’t work for me.

I also find I have a hard time reading books with younger characters. It’s probably because I’m old, and the drama is too much for me anymore! 😅 A lot of the “friend” group drama was just too over the top for me…

I also am not a huge fan of insta-love, so that one is also on me…

BUT! I didn’t DNF! Why? Because I was still hooked to the story. Will I be reading the next book? No. I looked at the reviews, and can tell it is time for me to go ahead and bow out now, because I just don’t think Ollie and Mia’s story is for me. I’m definitely sad about it, but there are many more books out there that I’ve been dying to get to! Here’s to the next one!

Where do I begin???? OMG!!! I have so much to say... I don't even know how to form my words. With only few chapters left, I ended up buying the second book, which is coming Sunday. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Some of my favourite quotes from the book....

▪︎"You stood before me, a memory, but I was a stranger in your eyes. Did you forget to remember or remember to forget?" - Oliver Masters

▪︎"My heart  was stiff. Rigor mortis had already set in my soul, if I even had one. I could no longer be sure." -Mia

▪︎ "Resting bitch face was real, and I wore my venom on my sleeve, not my heart- I didn't have one." -Mia

▪︎"Your pulse is racing, Mia, and I know what it's like because mine does the same damn thing when I'm around you. And when I look into your eyes, I can see my Mia is in there. The girl who pretends not to care, but her heart is relentless. The girl who kisses me unapologetically, watched me read, laughs into my neck, and has a genuine fucking smile when I'm beside her. My Mia." - Ollie

▪︎"My worthless heart was the slave while my mind was the master." - Mia

▪︎"If reality becomes unbearable, close your eyes. We were made with an imagination" - Ollie

I will be honest... from first hand experience, I can relate to Mia and the scenes were so well written that I got through the scenes not even knowing how.... especially when Arty forces her to talk... God that scene breaks my heart!

° The characters development throughout the plot was absolutely fantastic and

Sorry, but I love this. The tears I shed. The anger I felt. It was well done. Ready for the next book.
