A debut novel? Witchcraft! I’m calling HOCUS POCUS!
This book captured me from the very first page, and held me hostage for the entire Mia & Ollie ride.
“You stood before me, a memory, but I was a stranger in your eyes. Did you forget to remember or remember to forget?” Absolutely hooked.
This is approx 1% into the book. I have NEVER highlighted more passages in a book.
The heading of every chapter was an insight to the poetry of Ollie Masters, giving us peeks into his mind.
“I’m bulletproof, yet she’s slowly penetrating every part of me.” Swoon. Sigh. I just wanna wrap Ollie & his emotions up in the biggest hug.
The transition of Mia GAVE ME LIFE! I know I’m yelling at you, but I want to be sure I’m conveying my emotions here. She started off so cold and detached, for good reason, but still. Unfeeling. Given a diagnosis of a disorder.
“Pain, lust, anger, passion, I would take anything at this point. My heart was stiff. Rigor mortis had already set in my soul, if I even had a soul.”
And then sweet Ollie. Her complete, polar opposite.
“It happened instantly, my heart and soul coming to an automatic agreement, promising their all to her, and frankly, I have too much.”
He gave me all the emotions, and it was so refreshing to have a caring hero, one that didn’t spend all his time trying to tear down our heroine, but instead encouraged, and uplifted her, slowed her down if she went too fast, and breathed life into her.
“The problem is, I’m not just a guy, and you’re not just a girl, so the last thing we should do is treat this as such.”
Fiorina hit me back to back to back and I felt all the emotions that Mia didn’t. This was a work of ART, and I can’t wait for book 2.
“Stay with me, even when I’m gone.”

i loved this book, it's become my new comfort book. i love how Ollie and Mia's characters were written and how their stories were told. i also love the beginnings of each chapter, the quotes are so beautifully written. so... go read this book !! but make sure you read the trigger warnings because the book does talk about sensitive topics that you may not feel comfortable reading about. five stars for me :) can't wait to read the next book !
may be talking about spoilers below so beware !!
also, that plot twist towards the end made my jaw drop, the whole Ollie and Oscar being brothers !!?! i gasped. i also really enjoyed reading about Ollie and Mia's relationship and how it developed, about about their disorders and how they can really take a toll on your life.

I kept going back and forth with my rating, but when it was all said and done, there are a few things that really stood out to me that helped me make my decision.
1. This is something somewhat different from anything I've personally read in romance up to this point. I don't get to say that often.
2. The hero is a totally different kind of hero than what I normally go for, but I adore him anyway.
3. I had no idea this book was a debut until I read the acknowledgements in the back of the book, and I'm impressed with this quality of writing in a debut.
4. The author took some risk with this being her first book, and I always love that.
Overall, a surprising debut! I look forward to reading the continuation of this series and whatever else the author has in store for us in the future.

i'm really not one to ever give high ratings to a book with a cliffhanger (or in this case, a book that's first in a series and will continue), but this book was just too incredible not to.
the tropes, the couple, the WRITING, everything. all of it was just so beautiful and perfect. i was constantly in a cycle of being broken and put back together while reading this book. ollie & mia are everything :,)
overall, i had a feeling i was going to love this book going into it, but WOW i had no idea how much. i feel like this book was written for me, and i can't wait to see where the rest of this series goes. truly has the potential to become an all-time favorite UGH i'm in awe <3 (PLS CHECK TW'S!!)
