This was easily the best book I have read in years. I just finished and I don't even know where to start writing a review so I will just say this. I have never cried in a movie nor a book. I'm not cold-hearted, I just always appreciated the stories for stories--nothing more. I had to stop reading this book to go for a box of kleenex.

My only quibble with the book is that I don't know if this is necessarily a Young Adult book...it is a sad story and one that deals with powerful issues of death and war. It isn't something I would hand to any but the most mature teenager.

I fcking cried. A lot. It was so beautiful, so soft and so brutal, my heart hurts. Even though I cried so much and needed breaks, I'm glad I read it. But I can understand if it's not to everyone's taste, it's pretty hard in its own way.
