Prose is very engaging and I like the complexity of Sofia and Rose. The biggest draw for me was the Spanish summer days and dalliances with Ingrid and Juan. I wish there was more to the Dr. Gomez storyline, felt like it was lacking a little. Is he a quack? A scam artist? What is really wrong with Rose? I think Rose was making it all up in order to be dependent on Sofia, thus preventing Sofia from becoming her own person and leaving her. But I’m not sure because Rose’s criticism of Sofia sometimes suggests the opposite. With the Gomez storyline I thought this would be more of a thriller but I’m not mad. I did like this but not my favorite. I am interested to read more of Levy’s work though!

This book crossed my radar via an IG post from a librarian - it was one of many books available via Hoopla. So I tried! This book had potential and I really hoped about half way through that Sofia would grow up and become likable. Sadly, for me, she did not.
