Cinderella, if the prince was the son of a corrupt elven king and Cinderella was at the ball in disguise as part of an assassination plot.
Raewyn and Prince Stellon are both sweet, genuine, and attractive, so of course they develop feelings for each other.
Stellon is adorable but naive for a crown prince. He quickly reaches a point where he would give up everything to be with Raewyn, with no thought for how that would work long-term.
Raewyn has a hard life with nothing but bad options, and she understands too well that her decisions have consequences for everyone she loves.
The author puts her into a difficult situation that gets more and more complicated, and I was curious to see how she would get herself out of it. She really...doesn't? Through no doing of her own, things just happen in such a way that she and her entire family aren't dead by the end of the book.
The book ends in a cliffhanger, and I can't tell where the author will go with the next book except that it feels like Raewyn's mother will be significant and Stellon's younger brother will get to know Raewyn better. Who knows where that will go?

A Court Bright and Broken by Amy Patrick is not your typical fast-paced, high-action fantasy. Instead, it takes its time, fully immersing you in one pivotal event and unraveling all its layers.
I loved this approach—it made me feel completely absorbed in the world, allowing me to pick up on all the subtle hints and foreshadowing along the way. The atmosphere was enchanting, the tension slow-burning, and the writing beautifully detailed.
If you love stories that let you linger in the moment rather than rush from challenge to challenge, this one is for you!

“Inhaling deeply, I pried my hand away from Pharis, with whom I didn’t want to stay, and placed it in the hand of Stellon, with whom I didn’t want to go. The ball was off to an interesting start.”
The human girl who wants to save her family, the mystery deals with a witch and a fea prince who falls for a forbidden love. You should read this review if you like Cinderella and A Court of Thorns and Roses.
Meert Raewyn, a desperate young woman who makes a dangerous bargain to save her starving family, agrees to attend a Fae royal ball in disguise and complete a mysterious task. But her plan goes awry when she captures the attention of two Fae princes— Stellon, intensely possessive, and the other, darkly enigmatic Pharis. As she uncovers court secrets and the true nature of her mission, she’s forced to choose between duty and desire. If she fails, her family dies. If she succeeds, she may doom herself—and the world.

fairytale retelling with a little enemies to lovers… yes please!
Thank you to The Nerd Fam and Amy Patrick for the opportunity to ready this early.
I went into this without remembering the blurb because I signed up for it a while before I received the epub copy. But I am happy I did, because I was pleasantly surprised at the small nuggets that made sense once I realized it was a retelling. If you like fairytale retellings because the author takes it in a whole new direction while keeping some of the iconic bits, you should read this!
A Court Bright and Broken gives us Cinderella vibes but amped.
You get the prince, Stellon. He's fae and the heir apparent. But he has some secrets of his own. His father is cruel and heartless, especially when it comes to the humans and Stellon has never concerned himself with them either. Until her...
You get the poor girl, Raewyn. She's human and takes care of her family the best she can. But, she falls into a situation where decisions have to be made and she is determined to get her family back on their feet. She ends up in the sights of the fae prince, although she doesn't know who he is right away.
You get a royal ball, because it's time for the fae princes to take wives. Stellon crosses paths with Raewyn again and things start to get interesting.
You even get the fairy god mother... kind of lol
There's world building, a magic system that is pretty cool, true love and secrets... so many secrets. There's tension, fun and flirty banter between the MCs and chemistry! And it's not forced, it's more forbidden and they can't contain themselves.
Some tropes include:
Enemies to Lovers
Forced Proximity
Hidden Identity
Forbidden Love
It's told in dual POV
This is a 4.5 star for me (rounded up for posting). I loved it but there was just a little bit missing in the description of the fae world.... just a little. But I also know that this is just book one in the series so I am looking forward to more of the magic system and fae interactions in the next book.

I love Stellon (MMC)! From the beginning I could not put this book down I loved the unique touch on the writing it felt mature and kept me intrigued. It very much is a Cinderella twist with fantasy and a Fae/Human relationship. The pace of the story was good and the ending had me STUNNED. But what's a fantasy book without an intense last 50 pages and a what a cliffhanger. I really liked Pharis and sympathized with him (MMC's brother) and am so curious as to how his story line will go will he cease his infatuation with Raewyn? I was dying for all the secrets to unravel so when that time came the story picked up again with a bang. The males in this story were so well written especially the contrast between the brothers but held together by love and loyalty. The characters points of desperation, hopefulness, innocence, and eye-openings were all explored deeply within this book.
""I'll go ahead and bid you a good day and a good night and wish you. 'Happy wife hunting.'" Was it my imagination, or had there been a hint of bitterness in her tone?"

4.25 ⭐️!
I am so impressed with this book! This is perfect if you are new to the Romantasy genre or want to start reading books with Fae. I went in blind and was so thoroughly surprised with how much I loved it! This was such a fun, Cinderella inspired fantasy book. The dual POV between Raewyn and Stellon let you see different sides to the story. There were struggles Raewyn had that Stellon didn’t fully understand which frustrated me but ultimately he is just a prince who has never had to deal with any of it. I wish we got to see more of the side characters and I’m sure we will in the future. I loved how fast paced this was because I was able to binge read it in 2 days. Super easy to read and understand, I also greatly appreciated the guide at the back with all the information about glamours, how to pronounce names, what different terms meant, it was super helpful and something I think all fantasy books should have! The ending of this book had me on the edge of my seat and I will be eagerly awaiting the next book!
Thank you to TheNerdFam for the gifted E-ARC for my honest review!
