Davis has an interesting and exciting way of layering fiction over historical facts that craft a very engaging story. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Davis.

Historical fiction is wonderful when it sparks me to Google events and images IMO. This book sent me to Google Art and I spent time looking at the paintings mentioned.
The author does a good job of weaving the story through actual events.

Lillian and Veronica’s stories parallel to reveal some hidden gems, pun intended. As answers to questions reveal hidden truths and neatly wrap up the book.

3.5

I love how this author combines a strong leading lady/ladies, history, and mystery in her books. I also love that all of her books have taken place in NYC. This one was good, not my fav (The Address is still my fav of hers). 1920’s and 1960’s time period in this story. The Frick Museum is almost a character itself as it plays the background of both time period stories. I envisioned something like the Biltmore estate brimmed full with art. Lillian Carter, aka Angelica- the artist’s muse of NYC is one main character (1920) and Veronica Webber, the London model (1960’s) is the other leading lady. Their stories of course collide and there is indeed a mystery to be solved.

I highly recommend the audiobook.
