I sped through the book but maybe bc I was out of shows to watch and bored and wanted to listen to a podcast about it? I liked it more than Lions of Fifth Ave even though most of the characters were unlikable most of the time. Good ending.
Absolutely loved this book! I like how the author took really facts and fiction and blended them together! Two wonderful main characters that you help but become attached to! Two different timelines. I some have problems with dual timelines but this book moves smoothly between them! And then there's the mystery that will keep you turning those pages! Wonderful story!
Read in one day, mystery and history in this one about the Frick family and some internal drama. A figure model on the run in 1919 right after the Spanish flu took out a bunch of people.
Murder mystery, set in a NY mansion filled with precious works of fine art, that unravels through dual plot lines in separate time-lines, need I more? Oh yes, and there is a scavenger hunt filled with clues that lead to a long lost treasure! I really enjoyed this story's vivid amd respectful description of classical works of art, especially as an art history lover. However, it is a terribly, painfully slow building plot. When you finally get into the deep of "who done it?" You can't put it down. This one is for those who need buttoned up endings for the characters they grow to love.
I kept thinking it would get less boring. DNF. What a slog.
Fiona Davis makes me want to visit New York and discover all secret things that you won’t know existed unless you love history as much as her, I appreciate that she teaches things while telling a good story and always makes me read all about the actual people she writes about.
Sets place at the Frick Museum in NYC, starring Lillian from the 20’s and Veronica from the 60’s.
Great story, and I love how Fiona always tells you what books she’s read that led her to the story.

This book was quite the adventure. So well written and an amazing story based on real life events and history! Not my usual genre, but nonetheless something I will be recommending as a fascinating duality between two young women's lives
It wasn’t that good but topically unique so I was into it. By the end I was ready for it to be finished.
