Despite the fact I didn’t really care for this, I can’t help but wonder what happens in the next books....

This book felt like a warm hug. The love interest was much more like a teenage boy in the books (more boorish) than the perfect character in the movie. It made it more real, even if it was a little less charming.
I feel very conflicted about this book. First, I want to point out that I only read this book to assess what age it is appropriate for. It's not the kind of the book that I would naturally choose to read and that is very much reflected in my enjoyment (or lack thereof) while reading it.
The reason that I am so conflicted is because the story is 100% character-driven and the characters are actually really well-written. Every character feels like a real person and their personalities really do jump off the page. BUT, the plot is so slow and the book is just basic high school drama for nearly 400 pages. I was bored to tears.
In all fairness, contemporary romance is not my genre at all and I prefer a much more plot-driven story, but I can completely see why this book would appeal to teenage girls and it would be a great first step into YA fiction.

There were so many things I didn't like about this book.
Let me start numbering them.
1) The main character was 16 years old, but acted like a 5 year old. Her voice was ANNOYING. She did get better throughout the book, but for the few chapters it was just - ugh.

2) It was pretty freaking obvious that the little sister was the one who sent the letters out. It can't even be declared as a spoiler cause its THAT obvious. But apparently Lara Jean didn't care enough to find out how the letters were sent out or by who, just, "where is my hat box? have you seen my hat box? crap."

3) Two love interests. One was a douche-bag that was adorable, but still a douche-bag.

4) The second love interest was the ex of the sister who had second thoughts after reading the mc's letter.

On the other hand, I did like him better.
and 5) The book was written as if it were a story on wattpad.com - which isn't technically that bad. But the writing, even if I did find it interesting, was like a teenager writing their first story.
The reason I picked up this book in the first place was because I wanted to get into more contemporary books and my friend said that this was a really good book. I finished it pretty quickly, but that's only because it was an interesting story and I REALLY wanted to find out what happens next. I'm going to read the second book, just to see what happens with Peter, but overall - it was eh and the characters were eh.
3/5.

3 stars?? I'm still deciding, review will be on my blog soon!
A funny, cute and quirky read about family, friendship, high-school drama and first love.
First of all I have to say that I ADORED this book! The plot, the characters, the ending, everything was done perfectly. I really appreciated that the story wasn't focused mainly on the love relationship but also on the family aspects because it made Lara Jean's story even more believable.
Also, I felt very attached to Lara Jean's character and I completely understood her in every small decision she made, which is pretty rare for me.
In conclusion, I'm not usually a fan of contemporary reads but this book made me change my mind about it. It was just beautiful and I can't wait to read the sequel!

I really loved this book. The characters and plot were executed perfectly! I have read Jenny Han’s other series The Summer I Turned Pretty and I genuinely think I enjoyed this one better! The plot twists were interesting even if they weren’t that many in the book. I have yet to watch the movie but I’m really excited to after reading this book.
I honestly thought I had had enough of the “fake dating” trope but this book did it so well! All the characters felt very real and well written and Lara Jean’s inner monologue felt like a real teenager rather than an adult pretending to be a teenager. I lived this book and my only complaint is that it cursed. I really hate it when people write books where all the tens do is curse, this book didn’t have way to many curse words but it had a good few. Cause being a teenager myself we don’t just curse all the time and even though I know some teenagers do, they should have some variety. Lara Jean didn’t curse though, so I guess that is the variety that we’re getting, but I still feel like we could do better. Anyway I loved this book so much and totally recommend it!
