4.5⭐️ (rounded up)
From spice to tears.
“Diana and I have a love-hate relationship. As in, she hates me, and I love to annoy her.
📚 fake dating
📚 friends with benefits
📚 forced proximity
📚 hockey x cheerleader
📚 dual POV
🌶️🌶️🌶️.5

Over 500 pages made me unsure if I would stick with this one, but it had me hooked fairly quickly. And ironically, I wanted more at the end.
“You stopped to buy my favourite drink?”
“Only the best for my fake girlfriend”
The sexual tension and spice in this one was solid, had me just waiting for Diana & Shane to move past their fake dating.
“Remember we talked about kinks? This is his. He likes to be watched”
The characters within their complex were entertaining and made for some funny little scenes. And loved him agreeing to be her dance partner.
“Hockeys important Lindley, but so is life”
This one will hit you in the feels and get you feeling strong emotions about family and horrible exes.
Had me actually teary at the end.
Also loved all the extra items in the book (Shane’s application for FWB, group chats and map of their apartment complex. Think all books need maps!). Just wish we got a little more from the epilogue.

I love all of the books in this series, they are just so well written and fun to read.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I’m not going to lie—these kinds of books are my guilty pleasure. They’re easy to read, just exciting enough to hold my interest without being overwhelming, and they’ve rescued me from countless reading slumps. Normally, I wouldn’t rate books like this higher than 3 stars—maybe 4 stars if I really enjoyed it.
So imagine my surprise when I finished The Dixon Rule and thought, this is without a doubt a 5-star book.
I didn’t have high expectations going in, especially after The Graham Effect, and honestly, I only picked this up because I couldn’t muster the energy for another fantasy book. And THANK GOD for that.
I was completely invested in this story. Shane and Diana felt so real—their struggles, their connection, their communication—it all felt authentic. Sure, it had its cheesy moments (most books in this genre do), but it didn’t overshadow how much I genuinely loved reading this.
And then, the ultimate test: I cried. I have only ever cried while reading three books, and this one takes the crown. I SOBBED. The emotional depth caught me off guard in the best way.
I never would’ve believed that a college/sports romance would land on my very exclusive 5-star list, but here we are. This book deserves it. Bravo!

i thoroughly enjoyed this, their dynamic and in general the plot of the book, the almost one location vibe, it was a very good read. the plot twist didn’t catch me off guard, but the particular plot that’s talked about is very personal to me and made me cry for my own reasons. otherwise a great continuation of the series.
