it was decent but there were a few missing pieces that made it hard for me to enjoy.
it didn’t have a clear call to action ever, so while we were more aware of the situation, we didn’t know what to do about it.
it also relied almost entirely on anecdotes and personal stories, which while i related to pretty heavily, it feels like it’s missing something for a TED talk. especially given a skeptical audience, i think it would have been more appealing with some statistical backup.
finally, she didn’t really connect things back to a claim. it was more just stories of injustice. i expected more reasoning for WHY we should all be feminists.
still cute tho! very relatable.

I could read thousands of her books; they're so enjoyable to read.
Ten years later and so much of what this author spoke of is still true which is sad BUT there’s also been progress so that’s nice

A powerful essay, should be required by schools everywhere.
It is often said that a book, especially an opinion-type book like this one, is too long, that it could have been a good magazine article but the author puffed it up into a full book. Adichie has not fallen into that trap here, with the actual text clocking in under 50 pages. Her point is simple: men and women have been raised differently and are still seen and treated differently in ways that do not correspond to the physical facts of biological sex. Those cultural expectations, especially in her home country of Nigeria but also in the Western World, are painful and limiting to both men and women and everyone should fight against them. We Should All Be Feminists.
