I was hoping this would elaborate on her powerful TED talk but it is basically just a transcript of the essay. Still great, though. One of my favorite TED talks is her other one-the danger of a single story.

Yaaa, downgraded to 3 stars cuz, OK, it's your pretty standard femrage fair. I was properly enraged by the end. But it's also short and had no mind-blowing-ness to it. It was basically like, sexism exists and it sucks, amirite? And I was like, YOU ARE RIGHT!!!! ARRGHHHH I AM SO ENRAGED NOW ABOUT SEXISM!!! The end.
So yeah, meh. Why do I have to live in a historical time period where this even has to be an issue? Why do I even need to waste brain cells on people who don't see sexism or still believe in bio gender differences or whatever bullshit? WHY!?! WHY AM I NOT LIVING IN THE UTOPIA OF STAR TREK TNG?! WHERE WE CAN ALL FOCUS ON BETTER SHIT?!!
SEE NOW I AM MAD AGAIN
WHAT IS THE POINT

Very basic but that would be okay if that's the goal. Biggest negative point is that you can see her insistence on a strict gender binary and the erasure of trans and non binary lives coming through ("men can't have kids", "all of us, men and women, must do better", etc) - foreshadowing that TERF ideology that she started voicing very clearly a few years later ✨️
This is such a short read, only 42 pages and you can finish it in under 15 minutes
The author talks about how feminism is perceived by people, how men and women are treated differently by society (yes, by the same men and women), how our mindsets are shaped because of that, and how unfair society can be towards women.
I love how she responded to those who say, "Don't call them issues for women; call them human issues," by flipping it and saying, "Don't call them issues for Black men; call them issues for humans." That one hit hard.
This book was published in 2014, if I remember correctly. It’s wild how much the world has changed and hasn’t changed when it comes to feminism. Even now, we still have to explain, "We are feminists who don’t hate men." That alone shows why books like this are still so important.
