Delightful exploration into feminism. The author strips feminism down to its inherent questions and provides a way of seeing it simply. Of course, simplifying s subject as complex as gender equality more often than not leaves important views out. This book, instead, focuses on the explicit nature of sexism and the ways in which it reaches in to not just the authors life, but the life of all woman. additionally, she attempts to show how feminism must be taught to children of both sexes. If you are interested in the subject, and feminism is new to you, pick this book up. On the other hand, if you are very familiar with the subject, rhetoric, and history of feminism and are looking for complexity, this book won't do much for you.
Gender as it functions today is a grave injustice. I am angry. We should all be angry. Anger has a long history of bringing about positive change. But I am also hopeful, because I believe deeply in the ability of human beings to remake themselves for the better.

5 stars 🌟 Such a simple, yet beautifully written essay adapted from Adichie's TED talk. Not only does she criticize the strict gender structures of our society, rightfully so, but she does something that I find is often missing from essays/scholarly articles on gender. Adichie offers solutions, and real-life ones at that. While they are straightforward solutions in theory, they aren't exactly 'easy' to implement in our current state. At only 45(ish) pages, I wish everyone would read this to start working on those solutions asap. 100% recommend!
