Startling and urgent. The horror of this book is streamlined and atmospheric, a unity of effect that imposes and creeps inside the reader. Quiet and devastating, this richly described story needles and pricks, just a little bit of bloodletting, bit by bit until you cannot help but pale in the face of the ending.
Graphic: Violence, Misogyny, Vomit, and Child abuse

Definitely check the trigger warnings on this one, not gory at all but still disturbing.
Really liked the style of the text formatting, but it does take some getting used to.
Overall, could not stop thinking about it, read it every chance I could.

Wider themes of what is the “real” Britain are very well done. Slyvie’s father is essentially a Brexiteer who is obsessed with bringing it back to the old days to the extent of putting his daughter and wife at risk.
Writing is like poetry. No speech differentiations can make it feel occasionally difficult to read, yet the intended effect is to show Slyvie’s monotonous terror albeit this is betrayed by how much Moss packs in such a small word count.
Moderate: Domestic abuse and Child abuse
